Pool looked great but now I messed up

Yes, brushing it and stirring it up into the water so that it can go thru the filter is what you need to do. Keep an eye on your filter pressure. Please don’t add anything other than chlorine until you get this cleared up.
That's what I've been doing. ph is creeping up, you wouldn't add muriatic acid to bring it down?

Between 7.8 and 8.2

Are you having trouble detecting the shade? You can use 4 drops instead of 5, and hold something white behind it.

If it is 7.8, I would leave it alone for now. If it is 8.2, you could lower. What is your TA?

Here are today's results
Ph 7.8
FC 1
CH 150
TA 70
CYA 20
My CYA has gone down and I'm using more chlorine. I think the TA and ph are stabilizing. I vacuumed and backwashed today
Added more DE to filter. This is in front of my light. Looks hazy. Stirred whatever it is up again. Vacuumed the white stuff that settled. Hopefully the DE got it.20200608_203451.jpg

SLAMs aren’t complete until pool Is clear, so as long as you still have cloudiness, you should be SLAMming.

The cloudiness is from where I put 2 bottles of intensive stain prevention products into it and possibly dust from patio construction. Another TFP expert walked me through a successful SLAM and water was perfectly clear 😭 then I screwed it up by putting the intensive stain prevention products in. Now I'm using DE in filter to get it out.

Ok, but you need to keep FC at target.
Just went to pool store for stabilizer because it fell to 20. They said I have no more metals so I'm assuming stain prevention products worked. Very high phosphate at 4000 but if no algae I'm told that's not a concern. My TA is at 70 and ph at 8. I'm not adding anything until pool clears up. Looking better and better each day. What do you like to keep your stabilizer at? This is chlorine only pool. They suggested raising TA, lowering ph.

We don’t bother measuring phosphates. Your TA and PH are based on your test kit, or on pool store?

I keep my CYA at 70, but I have a SWG and I live in FL so my needs are different than yours. Forgive my ignorance - where is Reidsville? Is your pool in direct sun most of day?

You should keep the CYA between 30-50. If you are still vacuuming to waste shoot for 50. We only adjust TA when pH is unstable. Your test kit tops out at 8.0 so if it shows pH at 8.0 then it may actually be higher. Add enough muriatic acid to drop pH to 7.2 and test again after the pool has had about 30 minutes to mix together.

Pool store results...very close to what I had yesterday.
Ha Reidsville is in the upper Piedmont area of NC.
Yes. I'm keeping FC at target but using alot. When this is all cleared up I will raise CYA to keep the FC from disappearing so fast.

Pool is so much better, really clear but this stuff is all over the place. Was going to vacuum but storms and lack of sleep and energy kept me from doing it. Put some CYA in a sock in front of a jet but it's a different brand and not dissolving like the other I bought. Added more DE after I backwashed last night. Will vacuum tomorrow and adjust things as needed. Finally I see my beautiful pool in my future!

So the kids swam in it last night and stirred it all up again and made it cloudy. Waited until tonight to vacuum. There was white stuff settled on the steps and I felt of it. It looked like the DE. Idk if it is or not but I do know that the pool didn't cloud up because of DE. If it's DE, will repeated vacuuming get it and once it goes to the filter, it will stay there?
