Calcium Chloride

I just want to get clarification please, any brand of ice melt will increase the pool Ch as in (North American Salt 50850 Extreme 7300 Calcium Chloride Ice Melter, 50-Pound) from an older posting.

Calcium hardness can be raised with calcium chloride or calcium chloride dihydrate. They are available in some areas as Peladow, Dowflake, Tetra Flake, or Tetra 94, often sold as a deicer by hardware stores, and some big box stores, in colder climates. Pool stores will carry either calcium chloride or calcium chloride dihydrate under a variety of names, including Hardness Plus, Balance Pak 300, Calcium Hardness Increaser, etc.

Calcium products should be spread across the surface of the deep end of the pool.

Yes thank you ajw, I did see that I just wanted to be sure we are talking about the same stuff I throw on my frozen driveway
Seems strange to me but I have got nothing but great advice from TFP and my pool looks great.

Hey guys - I’m looking for a good source of calcium chloride. I went to Home Depot today and after 30 minutes they found a bag of road runner brand ice melt. It wasn’t what was listed online. I didn’t take it cause it seemed to have a bunch of other chemicals in it. Could someone link a good cheap source easily available online? I am having issues finding the recommended chemicals.

I found this at sams club.

My friend has 100 bags of ice melt BUT it is blue in color, I skipped it because of the color does that matter?
I am hoping Ocean State has some left.
