Sigh.....................nope, nope, nope...............that will NOT work!!!! Your garage WILL get flooded. You KNOW how it rains there in TX. The same as it does here, fast, hard, and heavy

Here are my gut thoughts. They have two choices:
-take the lower stuff out and I mean all out and repour it so it is level with a slight slope to the back side of the garage WITH a GREAT plan on how that area will drain and where the water will end up.
-pour onto the pergola area to build it up BUT I don't like this at all as I really don't know if you can/should pour concrete on top of each other.

You know what I am going to say next.................put in WRITING your concerns about this and ask him when he will be out there with a solution! Try to have another adult there to witness what he says. After he leaves put in writing what was discuses and send that to him!

We had our landscaper come and redo the grades and figure out the solution which involves french drains and certain ways to grade the grass area. While doing this we were informed that while all the other concrete is 4" the driveway they poured is only 2" to 2.5"...not suitable for a driveway I am so ready for this build to be over....almost there.

I'm so confused at this point...so much information

We are scheduled for plaster on Sunday and then they plan on returning on Monday to acid wash and start filling the pool (unless they have time on Sunday).

We are using Stonescapes Caribean Blue...do we want to acid wash? I have read so many different things on acid wash and now I am just so confused.

Once the pool is full, our PB plans on adding calcium and chlorine to get it going and the pump will be running on service mode continuously for a few days. Should we also ask him to add a sequestering agent?

An acid wash is a required part of a pebble surface startup. Acid washes are generally not good after the startup (on pebble) because each one removes some calcium reducing the life of the plaster. But you need one on a pebble startup to remove the plaster that covers the pebbles.

Yes, we are having one on the ledge and actually added four to the surrounding concrete...loved that idea

I would go with a cartridge or DE filter over sand. Any leaves should be caught by your skimmers and your pump basket and not reach your filter.

My mom lives there on the lake. I understand the inspector(s) there can be challenging if you use a pool builder "from the big city" instead of someone local. Gotta love small town politics. Good luck on your build and keep asking away on the questions.

Plaster is being done today and we are expecting Stonescapes Caribbean blue but while there are Stonescapes bags on the truck, they just told me those are for the next job and the ones they are using for our job do not say Stonescapes on them...could our contractor be using a different product or are they sometimes not labeled? TIA

I used to have a link to a site that had the different colors used to make up each different color but it is not working........gurrrr I wish I had an answer for you..............Let me do some more poking around.

Thank you Kim, the installer assured me that it is Stonescapes and told me to make sure to get the warranty information for it. That makes me feel better since he would have no reason to be untruthful.

SWEET!!! So head out there and take some wash cloths or socks and some tape. You will want to put them over the metal part of the hose off that pretty new plaster. You will also want the hose ends placed right by the lowest part of the pool so keep it from forming a channel or such in the new plaster.

Do NOT stop the flow of water once it starts. This could cause a ring in your pretty, new plaster
