Pool steps

Thank yo Desert dog and ajw22 for your support with this. I just came back from Home Depot and looked up this product on their site.
This product says it can be used in Pool. See the attached file.

No where do I see the key word in it’s specifications - submersible.

For what it is worth, the guy who did mine said the follow:Mix one mag Spec Mix (same as type S). One shovel full of gray thin set and one shovel full of gray plastic cement. This makes a really sticky mix and the plastic cement water proofs it. These are all dry material. add water and mix. Good Luck!

I reached out the manufacring company of the above product I posted and they suggested to use another product.
Even though it doesn't say for underwater use they said to apply this and sanded grout. Wait about 14 days than fill water. I picked it up from Home depot. Going to try this today and tomorrow. I'll let you know how well it holds up.

Did they say to use the grout under water too? One reason I suggested to use a mix of sand and plastic cement for the grout is for water proofing the joint. Post a pic when done.
Didn't specifically say to use underwater. I just asked which grout should i use with that thinset and they recommended sanded or unsanded grout will work.

Definitely don't use a non sanded grout. That would be for a very thin joint 1/16". Without grout it will crack. Use the plastic cement mix one part cement to one part silica sand up to two parts sand. I would also recommend mixing some plastic cement into the mortar as stated by a pool builder who does tons of stone work. As he stated the plastic cement is what makes it water proof.

I bought the sanded grout. I can't find plastic cement in the store. Can't wait too long as i need this fixed and wait about two weeks.

Update. I ended up doing completely different. I ended up using this for thinset and grout

I hired someone to do the job. It's not a clean job but had to be done. Some of tile we removed had some sort of adhesive to put down the tiles. So there was no morter/thinset underneath.

Where you able to sponge off the gout before it dried too much? If not, damp a sponged see if you can wipe/clean off the stone around the joints to make clean and pretty.
So the guy was able chisel out dried up mortar and use this acid crystals mix in hot water and scrub away remaining. Also found in product manual that this can be used under "Submerged" area. Just have let it cure for 14 days. see attached screenshot.
