Bula! New to this forum. I must say it is an impressive collection of advice and data. Thanks for having me. We built our own 20 meter lap pool a few years back and given the pool experts here in Fiji advised against our 360 infinity edge design we are largely very happy with it. We have fuddled our way through a few issues learning as we go but now it is time for the steep learning curve to kick in. My hubby left me with the job of vacuuming after flocking. I PUT IT THROUGH THE FILTER . There. I yelled it to the world. I have trolled this forum to see if there is a club of such 'dummies' on this forum but from what I can see I take the prize.
Anyway, I will save the details for a post in the appropriate place. Looking forward to becoming a whole lot smarter ?

I guess what I would like to know it's whether or not I have stuffed the filter sand FOR SURE and so will absolutely have to replace it. Or it's there hope of not having to do that?

You can deep clean the sand and see if it gets all the gunk out. Deep Cleaning a Sand Filter

The shock seems to have worked after a few days. Now to see if it lasts. ?

It will last if your MAINTAIN the proper FC level. If you let the FC drop too low you will be on this cycle.
