How to use the drain

Hi,

I have a wrinkle in my liner near my steps, and I have read that i need to drain the pool to just slightly above, to work it out.



I would like to use the hose to drain, and was wondering if there are proper steps, which way should i turn the valve?
I have a Hayward P4 remote. Is it as simple as turning that valve, and on the remote selecting pool and filter pump?

For starters, WELCOME TO TFP!!

Before you try draining, try a toilet plunger to work it out.....Preferably a new one. In the past I’ve been able to use that to kinda push the liner into place.

I have read and seen the video with the plunger, but they all say you need to drain a bit. Were you ever successful with some water on top like mine?

Would still appreciate any instructions on how to use that drain, if anyone can advise.

The last time we replaced our liner we watched as they totally filled the pool with water. Multiple times during the process I pointed out a crease in the deep end forming yet the installer was sure the liner was measured wrong and we were gonna have to live with it. Despite me offering to assist they offered us cash back for the eyesore and washed their hands of the issue as they left.

5 minutes later without draining I was diving into the pool to work out the crease. Took me longer to warm up after the swim in 65° weather than it did to fix the issue.

just the kind of hope I came looking for. Did you use a plunger and just pull it towards the wall? With my wrinkle, it's half way to the wall and half way to the step. Just opened the pool 3 day ago, the water is only 51° , I won't be jumping in today, but hopefully soon.

Exactly what I did. I kinda stuck it then gently kicked it into place.

So the wrinkle was 4 feet long, and at it's peak, 1/4" in height. Took me 4 hours yesterday, using my fingers to work it back towards the step. 12" per hour, that was funny.
I did not drain the pool. Plungers didn't help. Pool vacuum didn't help (saw a video on youtube, but my pool vacuum didn't have anywhere near the suction). Just working my fingers until I couldn't feel them.
The wrinkle is gone but left behind the white/faded look.
