If it is iron, it's usually a few days.

Once more, I would like to know your current FC.

Thanks. My main stress was the liner I just installed for 6k! As of 3:30pm the Alkaline is 90, PH 7.5 and FC is now 1.
Is that normal for the ph and alkaline to fluctuate a little when I don't do anything to the water? It was 80 and 7.2 at 7 a.m. FC was 2. Water color has not changed. There is still more pollen on the bottom. I keep vacuuming it up but you know, it floats around and settles again so I have to keep doing it. There was quite a lot of pollen this year.

So, it sounds like you don't think using a metal product will help?

Sequestrant doesn't really hurt anything and it may put the iron back in solution ( clear the pool) but experience teaches us it's hit and miss.

If you use it and it does clear up the water, remember the iron is still in there and you will probably need to keep adding it to keep your water clear. If you can get the pool to clear (as it will) just by filtration and time, you can recharge your softener and use that water as your fill water and you will likely NEVER have any iron issues again. My choice would be to not use the sequestrant......it's more of a bandaid than a cure. Your softened water is a cure albeit a slow one.

I would suggest you put in one gallon of liquid chlorine tomorrow early and then test and post your FC tomorrow afternoon. Your FC is getting pretty low and inviting algae so we have to keep that at bay. You will have to balance between adequate chlorine and not precipitating any more iron. I don't think one gallon of chlorine will cause much iron to reappear but there is always a chance.

Are you running your pump 24/7? What is your current psi?

Reemphasizing, you will cause no harm to your liner if you follow what we teach.

Sequestrant doesn't remove the metals from the water, it puts the metals back into suspension. Just like one dose of chlorine doesn't keep algae at bay forever, one dose of sequestrant only lasts so long. Once you have the initial dose in and the water is clear, you would be looking at 3 or so ounces of sequestrant every couple of weeks.
