Pentair Screenlogic Wireless Install

Hi all!

I just bought a house with a pool that was installed in 2016. All equipment is Pentair.
My issue is with the Screen Logic system that does not work. The previous owner left the screen logic protocol adaptor and wireless interface.
When I connected everything to my home network, all the lights worked (red light on PA on and Tx/Rx lights flashing on the wireless interface and also on the antenna).

When I open the screen logic iOS app and try to connect it shows: Searching for system controller. When connecting using the PC app (as admin on windows 10) the white box is blank. It does not see anything.

What should I do now?

Welcome to TFP. Congratulations on the new house.

What is the DHCP IP range of your router?

I have also tried the following, i still do not see on my server.

Locate your ScreenLogic2 Protocol Adaptor. Use the end of a paperclip or another similar device to press the reset button on the protocol adaptor three times within five seconds with approximately ½ second between presses. This will reset your Protocol Adaptor’s network settings back to DHCP addressing which should make it visible on your local area network.

What router do you have?

Can you login to the router and see if it lists the system controller on the network?

@proavia ideas?

Netgear has a bunch of products called Nighthawk. What model number?

I have been trouble shooting more.. i am not sure if this is the main concern.. but my router (network) is not detecting this adaptor (the SCREENLOGIC system) at all. The port light is red on the router. I tried to find it on the router (admin) page and didnt see it.

I tried to upgrade the adaptor and its not finding anything... even using a laptop connect to the router (via Cat5) and the adaptor attached directly to the router

I believe your problem is the adapter is locked in to the old network IP address. We have heard problem of the adapter not resetting using the paperclip to the default DHCP settings. One person who knew what the old IP address range was needed to setup his new router to the old range to communicate with the adapter.

Without the IP addresses of the adapter, the router, the gateway, and your PC all being on the same IP subnet they will not communicate.

Keep on trying to reset the adapter with the paper clip.

it just means slow transfer? and too low to detect device?

The adapter is old technology. It can only communicate at the slower LAN speed. It is not a problem. The router can connect to older slow devices and newer ones that can communicate at 1 Gbps.

I am also suspect that your Nighthawk router is too fancy for the old adapter. The adapter comes from an era when LANs run at 100Mbps or 10mbps and using IPV4 protocols. Your Nighthawk router does fancy things to support IPV6 and convert it back to IPV4 and support 1Gbps LAN speeds. I suspect there is some incompatibility.

If you have access to an older router that does not do IPV6 you should swap routers and try it.
