Pool Quotes - Melbourne, FL

131,

Sounds like total Bull Stuff to me..

The EasyTouch will work fine as long as you do not get the "lite" version, that has no power center...

Pump wise, both the EasyTouch and the IntelliCenter can only control one type of VS pump, the 3HP IntelliFlo (or IntelliPro)

You will not be sorry getting the IntelliFlo, it is the "Gold Standard" of pool pumps..

Thanks,

Jim R.

We are going to get the 3HP pump, thanks. My understanding is the EasyCenter/ScreenLogic requires a Ethernet cable from the router to some kind of Protocol adapter. This Protocol adapter is then hardwired wired to to the Power Center then. The Intellicenter gets rid of all this stuff.

Should we be looking at getting the Intellichlor system? Not sure what the (IC20/IC40 is). I see it's available for both systems. We are getting salt generation and spa so by default does that put us automatically with parts IC20 or IC40?

Do these include the IntelliChem Chemical Controller or is separate as well?

ADDED RELIABILITY FOR ULTIMATE CONTROL
For the ultimate in pool chemical management, pair the IntelliChlor generator with an IntelliChem Chemical Controller. When combined, these two products deliver the precise amount of chemicals to keep pool water clean, clear, safer and in perfect balance...automatically. Add an EasyTouch system and ScreenLogic® Interface, and enjoy pool and spa control using an iPhone®, iPad®, iPod touch® mobile digital device, Android® device, Mac® computer or PC, anywhere…anytime.

131,

We do NOT recommend the IntelliChem... We believe that the pool owner should be doing the testing and then telling the system what to do. Not allowing the system to drive the chemicals off a cliff while the pool owner is asleep at the wheel...

SWCG size is based upon pool size.. We recommend that you buy a SWCG that is rated for at least 2 x the volume of your pool. If you have a 20K pool you need a 40K SWCG. This is because the SWCG's rating is based on running at 100% output and 24/7..

ScreenLogic can be wired two ways.. It can be hardwired or by a wireless link.. Either way, the EasyTouch talks to the Protocol adapter in the house. The adapter receives "Pentair" and converts it to "Eithernet" and visa versa when traffic is being sent to the EasyTouch. I initially used the hardwire, but when my neighbor took a really bad lightning strike, it also came in the cable and took out the Protocol adapter as well as an Ethernet switch and everything connected to it.. :( I now use the wireless link and it works perfectly.

While the EasyTouch will likely do everything you want, I would still try to get the builder to install the IntelliCenter.. Think of it this way.. A 10 year old cell phone will still make phone calls, but for basically the same price, would you not want want the Andriod XF-1000 that has 1,000 things you will most likely never use??

Thanks,

Jim R.

131,

We are looking at different ends of the same horse...

What you say is true... I was talking where in your pic there is a 4-wire cable from the EasyTouch to the adapter.. This 4 wire connection can be be replaced with the wireless link (an antenna and transceiver) which comes along with the protocol adapter when you get the P/N 522104 ScreenLogic bundle..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks for the explanation. Here is what are amended contract now includes since we can't get the Intellicenter right now. This appears to be going the route you have with the Wireless Link. Look correct? We are salt water so the previous Intellichem stuff wasn't correct. Am I correct, this combination can control the two lights, GloBrite, (pool and spa) from the mobile device?

131,

Yes, it looks correct.

ScreenLogic can only do what the EasyTouch can do...

The ET-4 only has 4 relays.. This would be the Pump/Filter relay which must be used to control the SWCG.. That leaves you will 3 Aux relay.

If you want to be able to control the pool light and spa lights independently, then that will take 2 relays, leaving you with 1 relay.. If you want both lights to do the same thing at the same time you only need one relay and one transformer.

Here is a list of other things that you might need a relay for, now or in the future..

Equipment pad light.
Spa Blower motor
Pressure side cleaner pump
Landscape lights
Stenner acid pump
Unknown future item..

So, the direct answer to your question is.. Yes, the 522104 will control two lights... The question is what else would you want to control?

I started with an ET-4 and over time had to replace the main board so that I could add more relays.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Why can't you get the Intellicenter?

Per earlier, The PB they said their Pentair rep won't sell it to them because of too many issues. The PB didn't even know it existed until I showed it to them. Frustrating. Maybe I should talk to their Pentair rep that is saying that.

This is what I got from Pentair after asking about the status of the Intellicenter:
The IntelliCenter has been up and running for a number of months, many updates have been made and the system is fully functional at this time. I personally do not have much IntelliCenter info, as all reps who have been trained on it are only available in the 800 831 7133 hotline and Consumer Automation / IntelliCenter call queue. The main difference is INTELLICENTER has its own website and app, it also has expansion panels available as needed for upgrading and adding more equipment. EasyTouch is more for standard pool applications that do not need or have tons of needed extra circuits for on/off. For EasyTouch to be controlled from the app you must add ScreenLogic where IntelliCenter has the app built in via the website, also IntelliCenter is compatible with home automation RS232 connections where EasyTouch is not. Really it is personal preference, but mainly it will fall back to what your pool application has. If you have a simple pool with only one or two pumps, only 2-4 valves and are not using home automation I personally would use the EasyTouch as it is more user friendly.

Do all the modes (Pool, Spa, Spillover) require a relay too?

Cool,

I'm concerned at your PB response. I installed my Intellicenter myself last year. Worked like a charm out of the box. There were a couple of glitches but nothing that kept me from using it. For example, the setting to let it automatically implement daylight savings time didn't work right so I had to manually adjust time. Yes, it's true that for a very simple pool you may not ever need the functionality. But even for the standard pool there are new technologies being released all the time. They're easy to implement with Intellicenter's modular design. For a couple hundred $ savings on a $50K+ pool seems a little foolish to go with the lower level model. But more concerning to me is your PB's ignorance of new developments and then to cover it up he chooses to say there are "problems with it". The only problem I see is your PB's lack of knowledge.

Good news.. got back with the Pool Builder. They will install it :) and are going to get me the prices. It will be there first install. Trying to work it to give me some sort of break as a guinea pig install. Did things get more complicated now regarding lighting? Now that I look back they had us getting GloBrites (1 pool, 1 Spa), do you know if the GloBrite lights even work with the Intellicenter? On the website says (Compatible with IntelliTouch® and EasyTouch® Control Systems), not the Intellicenter. It appears Intellibrite 5Gs do but those look problematic being the LED may last but the board goes out. Microbrite lights says Connects to any Pentair automation system and the Pentair IntelliBrite® Controller which would be an added cost.

I see in the Quick Reference for the Intellicenter, the Intellicenter has light control options. Does that mean it's already built in? I don't need the Intellibrite Controller?
[All On/All Off Button: Tap this button to turn all light circuits On or Off. Light circuits include: IntelliBrite®, ColorCascade®, GloBrite® Light (Color and White), Dimmer and MagicStream® lights)]

Cool,

Great to hear that. Looks like your in luck on the lights. Below is a screen clip of my configuration menu for lights. Globrites are one of the choices.

131,

If the IntelliBrite controller will control them, then the IntelliCenter can control them.. "Control" is nothing more than a power relay quickly opening and closing a specific number of times which tells the light what color to be or what show to run..

Thanks,

Jim R.
