Pool this year, Apache Junction (It’s a wrap)

At long last!!! Oh happy day!!!

Okay so here are your fill instructions:
-put a sock on the ends of the hoses and put them at the lowest part of the pool.
-once the water starts flowing into the pool do NOT stop it!!! Stopping it could cause a ring on the plaster
-make sure the equipment up ready to fire up so you can start filtering the plaster dust out

Know the color will not be the final color. This takes a little while as the plaster cures. It might even have a touch of green in the beginning. No biggie!

[I hit the wrong button before I typed, excitement overload.:giggle:
Question, because we did the owner build route, we have a separate company doing start up/pool school and couldn't get anyone for Friday, when we should be filled. They are coming Tuesday. Should we go ahead and at least fire up the pump? Definitely at a loss here.

We started filling yesterday, right after the acid wash and it only took about 10 hours. We had 2 hoses and 1 from the neighbors on each side. It helped keep our cost down because we have tiered pricing so we watched the meters and cut off the neighbors at the last couple of hours while theirs was still in the lowest tier. ?

I’m so grateful for all of the experience on this site. Not the money shot yet, but here’s a picture of the pool filled, minus the deer mouse found this morning. The joys of living the life in the desert.

I have to laugh thinking about where this all started---------you filling a wheel barrow at a time THEN they put all of the dirt back and then some  LOL

I can't wait to see the color when it is nice and balanced.

Mice and frogs=frog logs! You can find them on Amazon.

Make sure to post your plaster here: Pool Finish and Color Viewing Room...TFP Member Sound Off take pics looking down at the steps and in the deep end to show off how depth changes the color.

I love looking back at the beginning of new builds to remember where they started. YOURS has to be one of the classics in that you were going to try to do it your self then figured out the error of your thinking! well done!!!!

Looks gorgeous! I was thinking of suggesting adding a screened enclosure to keep out the noseeums (and other bugs and varmints) and significantly reducing your exposure to UV, but not sure you want to change the view you currently have.

I figured I’d close this build thread out with a before and after. It’s been almost a year due to having to build retaining walls, get engineering tests and approval because of the wash that runs through our property. We then had to build up with a fill and grade process before we could start to dig the pool. We used BYOP but wound up actually being the BYOP people for everything from getting a good design and plan for our permit, to finding and selecting many of the subs who were eventually used. TFP (all of you who took your time to answer questions and be a sounding board) was a far better resource than anyone else. ?. Thank you all!

Our shed is not worthy of being called a pool house yet, and we have to still put in our fire pit seating area, so I’ll be back later and hope to have some pictures worthy of posting in the “magnificent backyard area” thread. I’ll also wait for our color to stabilize and then show the water color (stonescapes tropic blue) for those interested

Yes, the view and the desert is what we love and want to maintain as much of the natural landscape. Noseums are definitely a pain here, so we’ll see what the future brings. ?

Wow, that turned out great. The only thing missing is a nice pink floatie for you, that matches the floating koozie in the pics.

At some point you will bulldoze the shed into the ravine, and build a nice entertainment / kitchen area...we are waiting! :)
Not! Kids may after we’re gone. We loners and don’t entertain. The shed will have games/TV/fridge/microwave and room for grands to get out of the sun for awhile. I hate kitchen duty so there’s no way I’d ever add another one. ?
