We have our builder and design. Think we have settled on Blue Granite Pebble Sheen with the added shells. Free form salt water pool with a spa. Yes we want a spa. We had a 19x38 liner pool with a free standing spa at our last home and want everything together at our new house. Contract was signed last week. Merry Christmas to us! ?7F2986A0-8D1D-4538-8054-E3F59606EAD1.jpeg.

Nice design! I like the shape of it. The one tweak I would suggest is moving the bench by the spa toward the light on the left side of the pool. That will give more bench to sit on by the house. That would be a great place to sit and chill while watching TV or such. There will be more deck to sit on by the bench if it is moved.

Do you have a equipment list yet? We can look it over to make sure you are getting just what you need for your pool.

CB,

I am the one that usually asks about a gunite spa, so would really appreciate your feedback on the pros and cons on the differences between the two spas, once you get your new spa up and going.. Not right away, but maybe remember us about 6 months after your pool is up and running..

Good job going with saltwater.. In my opinion, the best and easiest way to sanitize a pool.

Good luck with your upcoming pool build,

Jim R.

Moving the bench over a bit is a great idea. I’m really excited about the beach entry. The spa will be overlooking the creek that runs next to the house. We just finished our house build two month ago, went so far over budget that we waited to build the pool until after our other home sold. Didn’t realize i would have so many choices left when it came to the pool. Been looking at pebble sheen colors, tile and decking. So many wonderful options! I will get the list of equipment and update. I love seeing all the help that you have given in other builds.

Our other pool was saltwater. I lifeguarded and had a chlorine pool in my teens. So i have taken care of both kinds of pools. Saltwater is so much easier to keep balanced. I rarely had to do anything to my chemicals. Never had algae or any other issues with my saltwater.
I will definitely update you on how we like the attached spa compared to the freestanding one we had in our old home.
We also used a robot cleaner for the past 8 years. They work so much better than the Polaris cleaner that we originally used with our last pool.

Here is a thread that might help you pick a plaster color: Pool Finish and Color Viewing Room...TFP Member Sound Off

I will pick out your waterline tile for you!!! Hope you like BLING!!! LOL Seriously just tell me what you think you want as far as waterline tile and I will help you dial it in.

I would love to see where this pool will be going.

Here are the photos i took from our deck. You can see the creek in the background of our photos. We are on 4.25 acres. When the leaves are on the trees you aren’t able to see any neighbors! Left the silt fence up to save us a little $ on the pool build. The last pic is out our bedroom window.
I love bling but husband wants to keep it natural looking to fit in with the wooded area. So bling would be great ?. I can send photos of the back of the house later..muddy from all the rain we have gotten in the past few days!

Where in GA are you? I am in Tallahassee, FL and it rained ALL DAY LONG yesterday here :(

What a pretty lot you have! 4.25 acres? SWEET! Bet you are loving life there! We have 6.5 acres but we can see our neighbors on either side BUT we are at the back of our property where they are at the front so that does help with the privacy.

There are some pretty tiles that are kind of BLING but might make your hubby happy. Do you like 1x1, 1x2, or 6x6 tile? Oh and there is a very pretty varied size one as well!

We are located in Cumming, GA. About 45 minutes north of Atlanta. This is our forever home. We are in our mid 40’s, we don’t need a kid friendly pool because our kids are in college. Built the beach entry for my dogs and eventual grandkids. I would like to do 6x6 at waterline and 1x1 at the beach entry. Our house is farmhouse style with white and grays. We have a lot of large rocks that we can use to landscape near the pool that have a lot of gray in them. We decided on the Blue Granite with the added shells. Would have liked to gone a little darker with Tahoe Blue but my husband liked Blue Granite.

Darker plaster can show problems in the plaster worse than lighter plaster. It all depends on the skill of the installers.

Shells are oh so pretty but they can cause problems in the plaster like seen in this thread: Abalone Shell Chips and Brown Stains in Diamond Brite Plaster-
Instead I am suggesting glass beads to add the extra shine/bling.

6x6 tile=

Do you like any of these? I know the one is kind of fancy but it is so pretty!

Beach entry=Have to think about this one as I do worry about glass being slippery. Will do some checking to see what is pretty and safe.

Jim,

I need some advice. We are having trouble getting our pool builder to finish our pool. We started our dig on Feb 4th. We have stone, tile, most of plumbing... i need help because it doesn't seem like we are going to be able to get him to finish. He doesn't show up when he says he will be here and doesn't do what he says he will do. I have a plumber set up to run the heater gas line, a landscaper set up to do the pavers and retaining wall. I am seriously considering just buying the equipment and having it put in by someone else. What would you recommend. I know you are the expert. We have a 25,000 gallon pool with hot tub with overflow. I need help. Long story short my mom was given 6 months to live in Feb and we want to get this done so she will be able to sit by the pool for a little while before she can't. Any help would be appreciated.

Cassi,

I would for sure have some kind of agreement with your current pool builder so that you don't end up with two sets of equipment...

I am not sure how the pool is currently plumbed.. Did your current pool builder give you a list of the equipment he was going to use? Was this a turn-key build, or are you doing an owner build?

Thanks,

Jim R.
