Pump and filter recommendations for small pool

Good luck this weekend and thanks so much for checking the connections for me. Good to hear the connections are the same. I will buy two of those hoses and see how I go. I’m going to Bali this week so it will have to wait another week before I get to setting equipment up....

Wonder if it's worth talking to best pool supplies though it does seem like the BestWay stuff is common size...... have a good trip

Just rung best pool supplies and they can’t measure as the hoses are in cardboard boxes. Any chance you could do an inside measurement of the thread like I did in one of my pics? Thanks heaps @AusPhil
I haven't bought one of those 3m hoses, i just have the standard supplied Bestway hoses for my pool, but looking at both what you have v what i have v the picture of that hose it would seem they are all the same.
My hoses will connect correctly to the 50mm Valve take fitting which will measure the same as the picture you posted above.
Happy to do the measurement when i get home this evening

I have the identical valve in the side of my pool and i cannot believe that they would have two different pipe/fitting sizes for that valve.

That would be a big help thanks again!

@AusPhil you sir are a legend! Thanks so much! The pipe diameter of the 3m ones are 38mm. I’m going to assume yours would be that as well? That fact that they don’t specify what pool that the hose suits, says to me that it must be common to best way pools. I will order and see what happens! I appreciate your efforts!

back from holidays. Bali is great, but HOT! The hotel pool must have been in the 30s. Well maintained and clear, although the kids did say it stung their eyes, but not much chlorine smell?

Anyway, I ordered the 3m Bestway hoses while I was away and they were waiting for me when I got home. Nice.
@AusPhil are your flexible hoses 38mm diameter for the actual hose? Thanks heaps again(y)(y)
Edit- don’t worry about it. I worked out they would have to be the same if it’s the same connections as mine ? but curious where you would buy flat rubber sheet?

Thank you so much for the offer!
We don’t have a Clark rubber here, the nearest is about 85kms away. Would Bunnings sell anything similar do you think? Is it a solid rubber, or foamy?
If I can’t find anything local I will definitely take up your offer thanks so much. (y) (y) (y)

Clark rubber is the only physical store i know that sells the rubber sheet and i did turn bunnings upside down looking for something suitable early in the year.....
Just maybe this might work Caroma 50mm Trap Repair Kit, but you would need to check it in person.

btw just checked the washers i had cut and they had come from the 3mm thick sheet i have

EDIT PS: just to confirm the flexible pipe is ~45mm external and 38mm internal

First thing for stinging eyes is to encourage them not to rub their eyes when they come up. Goggles achieve this because they can't. Try it yourself, just "blink, blink, blink" (as the swim coaches say), rather than rubbing the water away. I had to keep my glasses near the pool to teach myself not to rub my eyes, and wow, what a difference!

Water related issues can include low saltiness of the pool water, pH outside the recommended range, or high chloramines (the "chlorine smell"). Chlorine itself has no odour. Chloramines or Combined Chlorine (CC) form mostly from chlorine combining with ammonia (from sweat and urine).

It's finished!

But the filter is leaking out of the box!!!:cry::cry:

I uploaded a video to youtube to demonstrate. I don't know what's going on?
The manual says tighten until safety catch locks into place - done, but no dice. The o-ring is greasy as it should be. This is a Zodiac ZCF100 which is a replacement for the Astral ZX100.

Even at the lowest rpm (1400) it still leaks. Faulty unit?

Any ideas?

Thanks heaps!

Well it is either faulty out of the box, not completely un heard of or the lock ring is not screwed down correctly. maybe just angles in the video but it nearly looks to be on crocked or just not screwed down far enough. the PSI value is low so that rules out the return valve being closed.

Interestingly the manual i looked it didn't mention the safety catch rather it said for reassembly ....
Install the cartridge/s and center pipe so that it is located in the bottom spigot.
2. Ensure the filter lid o' ring is clean, lubricated with o' ring lubricant and located in the bottom groove.
3. Replace the lid and press firmly in place. Screw down the lock ring , hand tight is sufficient-DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

Great to see the hoses are all good

The hoses are working brilliantly - no leaking whatsoever in the pipework.
I tried screwing down some more but theres a hard stop, you can't tighten it up tight, and the lid is still loose. I've tried all combinations of varying "tightness", and it leaks every time. It happens after about a minute.
I'll give best pool supplies a call in the morning.

Good advice above. The only thing I can think to add, is to try tapping it with a rubber mallet or piece of timber as you're tightening. Shouldn't be difficult to hand tighten it. Sorry to hear you're having this trouble after a good project!

Just an update...
Best pool supplies sent out a new unit at Zodiac's request and I installed it yesterday.
Ran for about 5mins with no leaks, and then I stopped it. It leaked for a few seconds then stopped.
I ran it for half a day today, and came home at lunch to check and there's a slow leak! Same place - on the mould seam.
Best pools have suggested trying some more silicone grease and trying again - which I will.
If it doesn't fix it I will get a refund and swap to another brand.

Ahhhhh!
