Jandy jxi 400 not heating (propane)

I’ve searched for a thread reguarding this and have yet to find anything please help inform me if possible.


I have a Jandy Jxi 400 (will attached pictures) and everything was working perfect in the spring and now a few months later I used to AquaLink app and fired it up. Waited and waited and noticed I didn’t hear the thing it’s decently loud, no hot water etc etc I go look at the display board and it says off press pool or spa I did and nothing still.
Reset breakers and tried again nothing.
No faults I’m getting flow my valve turns when I enable spa mode etc so I’m getting non error codes have my psi and flow and not understanding this.
Called pool company to come out and review what may be the issue they found the issue and we’re going to order the part I’m like sweet it’s gonna be fixed.
Repair guy comes out and re diagnosed it and said this now. All parts are fine I jumped the “communication cable and it works” so of course I wasn’t home when he said he got it working and he left I called the company and got more details I thought but I didn’t they just said he jumped your remote wire and it works fine.

So me be somewhat mechanically inclined I look at the boards follow the two wires back to the AquaLink and they are in perfect condition I don’t know how they are the problem so I unscrew them from the Jandy Heater turn on breakers and try again and still nothing.
Would love to get this fixed myself vs them fixing it for $300 bucks for a wire that’s bad they say.

I have no idea? When the panel is off do I look at the led when the spa is on when I try to make it work? Sorry just trying to make sure I have it set up correctly when I look at the LED

There is a box with the word FENWAL on it. There is a red LED on the Fenwal box. Is the light on steady or off or flashing?

If it's flashing, is it one flash or two flashes or 3 flashes repeating?

Would i have to have the system running normal operation filtering or have it set to the SPA Mode and then look James?

I switched to spa mode and had the delay of valves turning as soon as it fired up the FENWAL led illumination for a split second and is off now.

If not, try jumping the two remote thermostat wires to see if the heater comes on.

The J6 terminal block says Remote. It says Spa, Pool and Common. There's a red wire going to the Pool terminal and a black wire going to the Common terminal.

The wires should go to the automation terminal that is for the heater. The two wires should connect to the Green 10-pin Terminal Bar to terminals #1 and #2.

When the automation wants the heater to turn on, it connects the two terminals together.

So, we need to replicate the connection by putting a jumper wire between The Pool and Common terminals to see if the heater fires.

Negative still not working boss i was unsure if the quick flash of the led was for the air flow fault or just getting power then going back off..

I went outside and tried this and nothing I waited about 3 or 4 minutes normally it fired up in about 1

Make a short piece of wire and directly connect the Pool terminal to the Com terminal.

Now what is the permanent fix for this?

Ok, the wires that are normally connected to the heater should go to the aqualink on the other end.

The aqualink opens and closes a switch that does what the short jumper wire does.

This means that there is an issue on the other end of the wires where they connect to the aqualink controller.

You will have to check the wires to make sure that they are connected to the terminals properly.

They should be connected to the green 10 pin terminal block in terminal #1 and #2.

I think that there's a diagram on the inside of the door of the aqualink showing where the wires should connect.

If the wires are connected to the terminals, then the problem is with the aqualink programming that tells the switch to close.

You will have to review the programming and settings to make sure that everything is correct.

Also, make sure that the water temperature reading from the aqualink is correct.

Don't leave the jumper wire in place because it will make the heater stay on until the water gets to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

As a short term fix you can return the heater to manual control and leave the Aqualink out of the picture.

James so i replaced the wire for the remote and still nothing,

Would you know what to look for in the “WEB” side of the AquaLink portal by chance to make sure its done correctly?
