I've been lurking for a few weeks - lots of helpful info so far! Just wanted to share pics of my progress so far. I plan on ordering a test kit and will update details and equipment specs soon. They started digging on Tuesday and finished today. It is a gunite 20X40 with a small tanning ledge and a lot of bench seating in the shallow end. The table will be a granite rectangle. Still haven't picked out any plaster, tile, or coping but I know we are going to do the PolishedScapes plaster in a lighter color. All of the stone used will be Austin White like the patio in the background. I really had no idea that our ground was solid caliche at less than 3 feet deep!

Welcome to the forum!
West Texas water is notoriously difficult to manage chemistry wise. I would suggest getting your proper test kit sooner rather than later and test your fill water so you can plan how you are going to chlorinate, manage pH, etc.

Lots of work done the last couple weeks - gunite, tile, autocover track, coping, and the start of the wall. Our PB says we will have water in it by next Monday 9/9. They are moving fast and working every day, but I will believe it when I see it! Just ordered my test kit bundle! Just convinced my husband that we needed a pool house with a bathroom so hopefully we can start that soon!

Yes, grew up a couple hours east of Lubbock and went to Tech but not an alumn. Planning on watching them in Tucson in a couple weeks!
Nice! I’m from Midland and now have lived in Lubbock for 14 years. Holler if you’re ever in town for a game! We have football, basketball, & baseball season tickets. That right there is why I’ll never leave Lubbock!

How are you enjoying the table in your pool? We are debating putting one in, does it get used a lot and if so what do you use it most for?
Sorry for the late response! They’re still finishing up construction on the pool so we haven’t been able to enjoy it yet. I decided to put the table in because I love just sitting at the pool bar when we vacation in Mexico. I think it will get the most use in our pool (we don’t have kids). We have enough room for 5 to sit and another 3 to stand along it (or sit if we do removable barstools). I think we’re goung to love it! Here’s a couple of pics to give you an idea of what we did.
