FCL - Not Enough

I’ll check again in the morning. Then hopefully leave alone for two days as the chlorine simmers down.

Seeing how little I lost today on an all day sunny day, is making me feel pretty good. Before all this, I was running the SWG at 100% for 24 hours and could only gain 0.5 PPM per day.

Still letting it drop. Tonight:

TF-100
FC 16.5
CC 0.5 (but I think it’s less, it turned the faintest pink)

Still a bit worried about it. Over 24 hours. Via the TF test, I lost 5 FC. 5/24 = 0.21 PPM per hour. My SWG is only capable of producing 0.33 per hour at 100%. Today wasn’t a sunny day. It did rain so I probably had some dilution.

Tomorrow night, it’ll probably be around 10. I’ll do another OCLT test.

You will lose more FC to sun at high FC than you will at lower FC. Average FC loss is 2-4ppm daily. Sometimes more depending on outside variables (swimmers, weather, heavy introduction of organics such as leaves, etc.). So 5ppm isn't terribly concerning. Relax, have yourself an adult beverage and enjoy your pool.

I think we can officially close the case on this.

FCL was 6.5 around noon. We had tons of rain late afternoon. Around 5 I turned on super chlorinate. This morning FCL is at 11.5.

At the beginning of this thread, running super chlorinate for 3 days straight resulted in raising by 2-3 ppm. Score another one for the SLAM process. I’ll be running at recommended and higher FCL levels from now on!

Thanks everyone for your help!
