I recently changed by set up from a jandy Ray vac pool side cleaner to a Polaris with booster pump pool side cleaner. I Jerry rigged the old set up like in the photo. I’m willing to get a variable speed, it will cut electricity costs, but can my new set up still work with a variable speed?
PSEG offered a $1,000 rebate for changing to a variable speed pump. But can I?

Just FYI, the set up is much cleaner than I have in this photo, the flexible PVC is shorter and the I got rid of the PVC elbow. But it’s aside the point.
Ok. That settles that. Then what is the best pump to switch to? Currently have a Hayward 1 1/4hp single speed (obviously).

Be careful with these rebates....... They invariably require the pump be supplied and installed by an "authorized" professional. This eats up most of the rebate over a web purchase and DIY install!
Are you sure you're eligible for this rebate? Only thing similar I've seen is $950 combined rebates for customers east of Shinnecock Canal on South shore.
