Rust on pool wall

Hello all, new to this forum. So i had this rust spot on my pool for a few years now and never really paid much attention to it until yesterday. I did a bit of research to find out the cause isnprobably a leaky liner. I had the pool liner replaced 3 years ago and the old one was indeed leaking from a few spots that i manage to patch. When the guys installed the new liner they didnt mention anything about the rust. I dont see any hole in the wall neither in the liner. There is ni water coming out either. Should i worry about this? Its probably the last season for this pool, if its safe for an extra month id be happy. Thoughts?
I'll try to use a spotlight to see if light comes trought inside the pool, that would indicate the wall is really thin or has holes.

You can gently sand it then put a rust inhibitor on it followed by spray paint. IF any of the spots goes all the way through you can put some JB Weld on it to patch it.

I took a closer look and there is actually a small crack. Can i gebtly sand abd apply jbweld? Will it be good enough?

@ajw22 what about them using come fiberglass cloth with fiberglass gel/resin instead of JB Weld?

Is that surface fiberglass? I thought where the crack was is metal given the rust stain.

Depends on material and size of crack.

The wall is metal but the reason I thought of fiberglass cloth was the fact of it being cloth so might keep it from spreading.....not sure if it would be the best plan so asking you what you think. You know me..........I throw out ideas to see what will stick LOL

Talking about sticking, I don't think fiberglass will stick well to rusting metal. The right JB Weld product may be better.

I’m of the opinion that once rust goes all the way through the metal you need to reinforce the rusted through area. I would clean up the rust and rivet a piece of sheet metal 2x it’s size over the hole.

I heartedly agree with zea3's post. You should see zea3's post of the pool fail in their yard. Lower on the wall than yours though, but could still cause a fail if the liner starts to poke thru.

I didn't take pics (still sort of kick myself since it would have been so helpful for this topic) but last year, we had to cut out the rust, prime, paint and bolt galvanized sheet metal to the wall to reinforce the area. Still fresh and indelibly etched in my mind forever. (LOL).
