What steps to take?

Question...forecast says thunderstorm tomorrow...anything extra I need to do with the pool? I still haven’t gotten the pool balanced to where it needs to be and I am concerned the t storm is gonna complicate things. Also, do I need to do anything with the filter when t storm? Backwash or something?

I used a hot tub test strip for a cheat and it shows no chlorine...I feel defeated but will do the full test tomorrow...

Grab water and test it at the kitchen table. Test strips are unreliable.

Since this is a new installation its normal to see some damp areas around the pool the first week or two as the weight of the pool settles the ground and squeezes some excess water in the ground out to the edges.

Also if there have been any big changes in temperature or humidity in your area that can lead to lots of condensation on the pool wall and leave small damp areas like that.

Your best bet is to watch the area and see that it doesn't get any bigger or wetter. If it starts to look like a puddle in that one area and it never goes away you should have your installer come back and address the issue.

Ok. The wet patch is getting bigger but the water level hasn’t dropped drastically. Will keep an eye on it. Installer can’t come to check for another week anyway... thx!

Tested my water again this AM...all my chlorine is gone again...is this normal? Ph did go up though. Added another 48 oz of bleach

Looking at your Pool Math screenshot from yesterday, if you added enough chlorine to go from 0.5 to 3.0 then I do think it was odd that it was all consumed. Are you confident your CYA is actually ~50?

Target FC 5. Let the pump run for 30 minutes and test. Then no more chlorine. Measure in the morning before the sun comes up. Either run the pump all night or run it for at least 30 minutes before you test in the morning.

It's normal to lose anywhere from 2-4 FC every day.

Your pool is like a pet. You have to feed it every day.

Your water is only a couple days old and your CYA may not be fully dissolved and dispersed yet, so you're probably jumping the gun doing the overnight test.

Good news! Just tested and I have chlorine!

FC = 5
CC = 0.5
TA= 60
CYA= 60
Ph = 7.2

Does this mean we can use the pool now? Do we care about CC level? Does this mean my water is balanced and I can start using the salt generator thing? If yes, I need some guidance as to how to use.

Thanks all!!!! U guys have been super helpful, esp Richard!

Any CC .5 or lower is considered none around here. It's fine to get in.

Assuming the salt is dissolved completely, you can start the SWG.

If it gives you any trouble, start a new thread in Salt Water Chlorine Generators (SWG) and someone who knows how to access codes and readings and program them will be able to help. That's beyond me. I use jugs.

Oh my salt water test kit is here. I guess I should try to test. Other than that, does my results look ok? Do I still need to make adjustments and test daily? So don’t have to worry about CC level?

Thx!! So excited that we can finally go in!!!(maybe tomorrow since supposed to t storm after work)

I have a similar situation with a pool I just installed this week in my yard.
My plans are to fill back in around the pool with clean sifted dirt right up to the wall and level the ground out. It's probably not the best option, but they claim the pool can be buried 36" deep once it's full so I see no reason I can't do 6-8" +-. Yours may be deeper than that and I'm sure fencing etc becomes a concern at a point as well.

On the other side, I too have a hill but not near that steep. I'm just doing grass on that side away from the pool a foot or so. I haven't figured out what I'm doing around the pool wall yet I.E. crushed marble etc.
