Weird test results, need a little help

Cincinnati, Oh
With our new hot tub we were given the @Ease system (silver/blue ball). I'm not sure if I love it or hate it yet, any comments on this system are appreciated.
When I test FC and add R-0871 until the water sample is clear it'll begin to turn pink after about 5 seconds. I'll add drops again until the water is clear, this cycle will continue indefinitely. I've never had this result before and using the same kit I don't get this result when testing the pool water. What's going on? I've also noted that CC is always quite high and wonder if something in @Ease is causing this. Thanks for your help

Today's test results:
Temp 99
FC 1
CC north of 4 (I stopped at 8 drops)
pH 7.7
TA 75
CH 150

I suspect that @Ease system will be a problem. You might want to read the following thread for some great info.

The test returning to pink after a slight delay is normal. Ignore it. When you titrate it to clear the first time, that is your reading.

I hunted down the SDS's for two different @ease chemicals. One is largely dichlor, the other silver chloride and calcium carbonate. I don't think any of them misread as CC the way Potassium Monopersulfate does. I think it's really CC. You're more likely to see high CC in a hot tub in a pool anyway- it's a smaller body of water than the pool and the higher temps cause sweating. Sweat reacts to create CC.

Now.... do you want metal stains in your hot tub? No? Then don't use the @ease with silver.
Do you know what the CYA level is in that tub? I don't see where you tested for it and dichlor dissolves into an almost 1:1 chlorine and CYA ratio. You add 3 FC, you've added almost 3 CYA. The chlorine goes away. the CYA remains. It won't take long to have too much CYA. How often do you replace the water in that tub?

Prior to posting this thr ad I searched for posts related to the @Ease system but didn't find anything, thanks for sharing this thread.

CYA was nil, I just changed the water and didn't add any CYA which was my mistake. That's being addressed as we speak. And to answer your question about metal stains, no I don't want them. I didn't know that silver chloride causes them in a tub so I will discontinue its use.
I don't know what it is about staying on top of the hot tub but for some reason I'm a slacker even though I stay on top of the pool chemistry. Only I can fix that problem.

In reading the thread about frog products it seems that aside from being more vigilant about hot tub chemistry I need to sanitize with chlorine or bromine. This hot tub is brand new, it's a tuff tub with no options because we don't expect to be in our house very long. Our next hot tub will have a uv system in it.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
