I've got absolutely no clue where to start!

Thank you for the advice Carl. I basically want to get the pool somewhat clear so I can even see the liner. If there are big rips or something suggesting I must replace it asap, I’ll have to close the pool for now until we have the funds to do that. Right now I’m hoping it’s just the small areas pulling away and we can get someone out here to fix it after we’ve made that determination. Maybe it’s a bad plan but we’ve started and i’ve finally entered slam levels after days of trying so I’m just gonna trick forward ?

And, as far as I understand if my liner IS okay mostly drain and fill runs a giant risk of destroying it. :( I already have plans to replace all my equipment asap, as soon as I get clear or almost, as it’s very old and leaking like mad.

Retested oto. Still orange, ever slightly. I decided to backwash filter & rinse then I added 4 gallons hoping to hold a decent level until morning, rain starting again as well. That might’ve been too much bleach but it’s still going down and I hope not to wake up to fc 0.5 again!

The water coming out of my filter has an orangey tinge. Not strong but I see it. So it seems that orange on the liner isn’t 100% on the liner. I see no orange in the test tubes or cups I dip out however. It stops and goes clear after 2 mins.

Knowledge is power! You got this!!
High chance of rain tonight, tomorrow (70%), and Friday. Thinking of holding off on CYA until Friday night (sat is Sunny), to lower FC demand since it may not be so sunny?
100% spot on!

I hope you get enough rain to help top up your pool! Ours overflowed we've had so much! (it's smaller, but we were patching leaks so had it drained down), yikes!!

Were you by chance able to check Kim's vit C trick? Did that affect the orange?

Oh... some wonderful (sarcasm) news... I just opened my mail and my insurance is threatening to drop us if we don’t remove the diving board. I planned on doing so anyway because I am risk adverse (I say that after buying a home with a pool i know nothing about ?), but now i’m on a time table so i’m super annoyed. i need to try and get it up this weekend and send them photos.
I told them the pool had a board when I purchased them. It’s been less then a month.
You can search youtube for both things, removing the diving board AND popping the liner back in/on the track :D

Yikes!!!!

I just woke up to the pool nearly overflowing and it’s still raining. flood alarms on phone woke me. Ahhh i think my only choice is to go run the filter on drain and add even more water to the yard.

I took the water down to the top of the skimmer. You can't even see it in the before pic! Hopefully it stops raining soon and I can try to use the rest of the excess water to vacuum.
I hope my neighbors just think that was more rainwater

Good news is that my bleach held pretty high! Last test was at 1 AM and it is now 1 PM.

Im not sure why my phone made the test look like that. It was all the top color, though!
Still waiting on my packages to arrive with refills.

Me yesterday: Ahhh I need more water!
Me today: AHHH STOP RAINING I DON'T NEED MORE WATER
:ROFLMAO:
When it rains, it pours...right?!? Odd weather pattern the last few days. We have had a little over an inch while 20 miles down the road, they have had almost 5 inches!!

Got my refills.

FC: 11
CC: 1

I’ve held over 10 FC since yesterday evening so I think that’s great. The 4 gallons I added at 1 AM likely bumper the level up super high. I have not needed to add bleach today so far (13ish hours since last bleach)

I think I should be at 10 FC with a cya of 20. But, should I maybe bump it up since there appeared to be something really nasty in there.

After much fuss with the vacuum, I think I have determined that my skimmer is not functioning.
I only have 1 skimmer.

After trying all the settings on the pump and various ways of attaching the vac, I finally stuck my hand down under the skimmer basket near the intake hole. There was no suction happening.
This might explain why my water isn't clearing up?
What can I do?

edit to add:
stuff is being pulled into the system from somewhere because I have to backwash 1-2 times a day. Pressure goes from 15 to 18-20% on the filter.

That's a big deal. You have water moving through the system correct? Pump basket is full and water coming out from the return jets? If so, then you must have a main drain that is pulling water. If that's true, then there is probably a valve at the equipment pad before the pump that adjusts water from the skimmer or drain - unless each was plumbed with its own valve. Your thread is getting long, so I didn't go back too far, but let us know if you see any of those things (or something completely different) on your end.

Yes. Pump basket is full, water coming from jets, pump primes quickly when I turn it on, pressure rises from the filter getting gunky.

I see some valves. I can't begin to guess what they do.

Thank you texas
Glad you're up & running again. Sometime later, make a little mark on those pipes so you know for the future which one works for which suction. Happy vacuuming. :)

so couldn’t vac on waste for long. Wow fast water drain! I got a little bit of dead alge then stuck the hose in the deep and gobbled up 4 more skimmer basket full of leafs.

I also preformed vit c test. It appears the stains are metal. They disappeared instantly where I held it.

fc : 10.5, went ahead and added 4 cups of bleach
