I've got absolutely no clue where to start!

Hubby arrived with 30 gallons of bleach...
I’m pretty confident we’re on a list now

Just finished dinner. Ready to go again ?

Next time you send him out, have him pick up some rope, a tarp, a pick and a shovel. :devilish:

Over an hour since my last oto, look at that! It’s held at 5.

How much bleach should I add now? Another 4? We are trying to make this orange, right?

Yay happy dance!
SO, if you are going to be getting sun there, you can "gently" bump your CYA to 30 (heehee)

And settle in for a proper SLAM Process, here you come blue water!!!

Speaking of, does the water look any different?

I see more algae on the steps. The orange liner issue is throwing me off a bit. Hubby thought it was looking a tad better.

So I forgot about it, but i also purchased a manual vacuum. We tried it on day 1 but couldn’t really figure out how to get proper suction. I ordered a vac plate that just arrived a few hours ago. I am going to try to get it to work tonight and help get that dead stuff out.

Any idea what my filter should be set to? I have.. drain, filter, rinse, backwash & whirlpool. I don’t see “waste” i see mentioned often.

If you want to, you can try to vac on drain (I think that is the same as 'waste'), but it will likely empty fast!
drain = same as "waste" (guessing)
filter = (you know)
rinse = after you backwash it resettles the sand
backwash = use to clean the sand after the pressure rises
whirlpool = no idea! lol

Okay. I don’t think I can actually afford to vacuum to waste just yet in that case. water level has been dropping and just reached almost proper level, 1/2 of skimmer. I’ve been thinking i’ll need to add water in the next day or so and have to figure out how to get a hose back there lol. The previous owners.. took out and covered up the backyard spigot for some reason.

Need a lonnnnnng hose to go from the front.

will vac to filter help at all?

Okay. I’ll hold off until we figure out how to get the hose back here.

I checked oto and it was a little above 5 after 2 hours, pretty dark yellow. I added 3 gallons, since 4 seemed to overshoot last time. Waiting to retest. I’m not giving this pool a rest tonight ?

Oh... some wonderful (sarcasm) news... I just opened my mail and my insurance is threatening to drop us if we don’t remove the diving board. I planned on doing so anyway because I am risk adverse (I say that after buying a home with a pool i know nothing about ?), but now i’m on a time table so i’m super annoyed. i need to try and get it up this weekend and send them photos.
I told them the pool had a board when I purchased them. It’s been less then a month.

I would suggest getting at least 20 basket socks. I HAD a 7 frog pool that I started working on in late November. Now it seems pretty good. No frogs at least. If I was in your situation and not based on my SWAG chem and cleaning program. Prepare to SLAM. If it has not been shutdown season I would have or just do a big drain and fill. If water is cheap it may save you some frustrations to drain and fill, lots of filter cleaning (lot and lots) and some wall scrubbing. I basically destroyed a filter getting algae both dead and alive out. But back to the basket socks. It will catch the large & medium stuff before it gets in your sand filter. That are cheap and can be washed and re-used for awhile. I used 25 socks over 6 months during cleaning. I would worry about and fix the separated liner first thing. If yo have to replace it you wont have a lot of cleaning to do. Good luck . These folks helped me a lot as I learned learned, learned, brush, backwash filters and test.
