where do i start? The bottom is full of leaves and we have a leaf gulper that works good for removing them but the problem is you can’t see the bottom, do I just blindly try to remove as many leaves as possible? Help ? 97612

Welcome to TFP.

Your scooper net and lots of chlorine is what you need now. The more you can scoop out blindly the less organic matter you will have to use up your chlorine.

You need a good test kit. Either the TF-100 Test Kits or the Taylor K2006C. See Test Kits Compared - Trouble Free Pool

Once you get your test kit post your water chemistry. Then you need to stock up on Liquid Chlorine and follow the SLAM Process process. Step by step with no shortcuts. Ask questions here along the way. Be patient. This can take a week or more.

I suggest you review ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

Also please put the details of your pool in your signature. See What we need to know to answer your questions

To a point, you may have to. Welcome to TFP! You CAN convert that dark mess to a crystal oasis, but you have some homework and things to do here at TFP:
- Do you have a TF-100 (or Taylor K-2006C) test kit? That's #1. Test Kits Compared
- Read the SLAM Process instructions. That will eliminate your algae
- Read our ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry page
- Read/Save the other Vital Links below in my sig (and update yours).

Question, has ANYTHING other than regular bleach/chlorine been added to that water? We need to know what if anything else is in there. Based on all of this, let us know if you have any other questions. Oh, and YES - many others have corrected the same problem. Lots of examples on our search feature above. :)
