Hi everyone! We are trying to finalize our design for our gunite pool and the original plans were to have a raised spa at the back side of the pool and a tanning ledge on the shorter side next to it- but now I was thinking maybe have the raise spa in the middle and do a tanning ledge on either side. Has anyone done anything like this? Or have any pictures of a pool with a tanning ledge and spa for ideas! We are doing a geometric shape pool! Please help!

I just posted on your into thread but I will also post here.................THANKS! I have been needing a new pool to help design! Share what you have come up with so far. Tell us what you like and don't like. Share a pic of the yard this pool will be going into as well.

Attached is the sketch we have so far- and yes, sorry, the sun shelf. Some pool builders call it a tanning ledge, others a sun shelf so I never know what on earth it's actually called! There's a picture as well similar to the design he sketched up for us. However, I was considering changing it and the next post I'll post ideas I was thinking

I was considering doing something where the spa has a sun ledge on either side. We are going to have a covered pavilion (not nearly as big as the one in the above picture) and wanted to try to figure out the best look! Here's two pictures I found- but picture the shelf shelf on BOTH sides of the hot tub. Any pictures of anything similar anyones done I am so grateful for!!

I like the idea of a shelf on one side and a set of long steps on the other side.

In the PDF where is the covered area and the house? The one thing you really need to think about with the spa in the center like in the first pic is the fact the raised wall will block the view into the pool from the covered area.

I really like the PDF idea. Spa is still close enough to see the TV, chat will people in the covered area but does not block the view into the pool!

Here is my final conceptual drawing with tanning ledge on both sides of my spa (spillover on all 4 sides). Originally it was the entire end of the pool, but this was better as they are still 8' wide each and now chairs can face south for sun, or north to see televisions under the cabana. Bubblers going in middle of each too.

I was considering doing the hot tub and raised wall with waterfalls on the back side, then putting the sun shelf along the side and putting the pavilion behind that

I'm not much of a hot tub person, but if, say I bought a house that had one with a pool, THIS is the design I would want personally.
Where the spa does not intrude into the swimming pool area, but off to the side.
