Your FC is higher than it needs to be for a SLAM. 40% of CYA is what we advise, so FC of 20 in your case. It's not really harming anything at your level, but wasting more chlorine than necessary.
Yeah i figured out today after more reading that the FC depends on your CYA.....FC is not a fixed number per se
So water clear today kids and visitor swam......just tested to see bout the OCLT
CYA- 60
FC-21
CC- 0.5
so by pool math app i added 1 gallon and 3 cups of bleach and will recheck in morning.....
My question...will this addition alter my OCLT or do I need to wait till tomorrow night?
You need the test result after the final bleach addition for the day, otherwise you may get a false positive result. You can run and pull a sample to test now and test again in the morning.
So this morning probable false sense i added bleach last night
This morning
FC 28
CC 0
CYA 60
so gonna let it ride check early evening add if needed check like 830-9 (couple hours after adding) then do OCLT
If passed then just turn swg on let it ride checking every couple days?
Make sure the sun is off the pool for the evening test. Testing at dusk or dark and then at dawn or very early, no later than 8:00am to get an accurate OCLT. Do not add more chlorine after pulling the evening test sample. You have to take UV from the sun completely out of the picture for an accurate test.
Okay....SOOO FRUSTRATED
so last evening did test and added bleach....retested 2hours after adding (neighbors kids played after adding and final test)
Test last night was FC 27 CC 0
Get up this morning test and FC 23 CC -0
Uhgggg when will this end
Im gonna try again tonight......if I check initially when dark, i can check again like at 0345 or 4am when i leave or do i need to wait till closer to 6 or 7am?
What time does it get dark, 9ish? If so you should be able to get a good test. About 6-8 hours without sun is what you need for an accurate test. Once you do that test at night tell the kids the pool is closed until you say they can swim again.
So i test around 7p and add about 2 gallons, 3 cups according to poolmath...recheck at around 9pm once completely dark.....
FC 28 (56 drops)
CC 0
Checked just now at 0400
FC 29.5 (59 Drops)
CC 0.5
So even tho my FC went up, does this mean Ive Passed SLAM or do i need to have wife check later in morning
The fact that your FC increased during the OCLT says there is a testing error on one end or the other, or your SWG is running. I'd make sure the SWG is off and do another test tonight.
I’m jealous!! Going into day #8 of my SLAM. Hope it ends soon, cost of bleach is starting to add up. My OCLT keeps failing, losing about 4ppm each night.
