What is the price of the s200?

Marina's price sheet a few pages back shows $699 shipped. Some members have reported that the rebate on Maytronics site ($50 for the S200) is being honored. YMMV.

My S200 should be here today, gonna put it to work as soon as I get home.

Margaret at Marina was very easy to deal with.

I think this may be a bad idea. As it was being talked about earlier starting on post 1103 it seems leaving your robot in the water might lead to premature failure.

Here's another issue I see with automating robots. What if you let it run for a few days, forget about it, then don't catch an issue like the cord getting really tangled or the 'bot gets trapped somehow. If you just let it go things could break. That would be my concern.

Then again the sky could fall :) JK...I would recommend checking local stores and getting a loaner to test it out. Although I didn't use a loaner program several pool stores offered.

bought my a20 from marina on 4/30/18... gave the rebate a shot, even though it wasn't a local purchase and it was a day before the official rebate period started...

the rebate check was in today's mail...

whoooooooo hooooooooo !!!
I also got an email confirmation that my a30i rebate was approved. I just applied for a rebate of my sister's s300 that I just bought on her behalf. I'm confident that'll be approved too.

Great to hear about the rebates!

I used the S200 for the first time on Monday night. It looked like my pool was "clean" and I could see the entire floor very well because of my crystal clear TFP water. However, that little guy picked up an insane amount of particulate/debris in the initial 2 hour run.

I watched him for a while and he didn't get hung up or caught on anything, and the cord was truly tangle free at the end of the cycle. I did, however, use the advice seen here about laying the cord out along the edge and only feeding enough in to the pool as needed (let the machine pull it in). Sounds difficult, but it's a simple process. After use, I also coiled the cord using the proper over/under method for storage. I cleaned the filters and hosed everything down with tap water, then put him in his storage spot in the walk-out basement.

I think I'll run him again tonight and see what else he can get.

Glad I read this entire thread, and so far I'm happy with my choice of robot and vendor (S200/Marina). Thanks all who have contributed!

Congrats...the S200 rocks. Did you use the standard filters or the pleated ones? I have not use the pleated ones yet but plan on doing so shortly...

Ordered my s200 yesterday, shipped today from Marina. I demo the s300i, but just couldn’t do almost double the price. Marina, explained s200 is the same as s300i, except no caddie and no Bluetooth feature, all I need is that cleaning ability.

S300i /A30i Has warranty that is more extensive as well (bumper to bumper). Longer cleaning cycle - good for larger pools. Marina has great prices, but I found their knowledge a little lacking on the products. Luckily this thread helped me be well informed. Either way, you can't go wrong with the S/A series.

It does indeed!

Based on the advice I read here, I asked Margaret at Marina to include both - and she did at no extra cost. I would have happily paid extra but she said it wasn't necessary. I will definitely be checking with Marina first on any future purchases.

ETA: Just realized I didn't really answer your question. The pleated (coarse) filters are in the "main" filter basket that has a handle. The fine filter is simply a smaller basket that fits inside the main basket. Pretty cool design feature. The way everything comes apart and goes back together is really simple and easy.

For mine, it came with 2 sets of filters that pop in and out of the main basket assembly.

- a fine mesh filter for initial cleaning
- a SUPER fine pleated filter for normal use after the pool is pretty clean.

I was really surprised how much the pleated filters got out even after using the fine mesh for several days to get the pool clean! I was going to just stay with the fine mesh filters since they seemed plenty fine. But totally worth it to switch to the accordion filter paper sets after the initial clean.

@chking1, it appears that Marina will offer 2 setups:

1) Normal setup: it comes with 2 sets of filter inserts that pop into the main basket housing. One set is a fine mesh for initial cleaning and when there is lots of junk in the pool, the other is a pleated super fine filter for daily use. Both come in 4 pieces that pop into the housing.

2) Optional Setup: if you ask, they will give you a fine mesh basket that fits into the main basket. The main basket will have the super fine pleated filters. The insert is the fine mesh to trap larger stuff. I think(?) in this setup they do NOT give you the fine mesh inserts for the larger basket.

I am not 100% sure of this, but I think this describes the 2 options?

I took option #1. But if I had it to do over again, I would go with the option #2, which apparently they will do for the same price.

I do believe you are correct on that assessment! Knowing the options, I am glad I went with #2. Very intuitive and it allows me to run both filters at the same time, instead of having to swap them out.

Looks line Marina’s is creating its own S200i version by swapping out the snap-in screen panels for the coarse screen insert. If you look at what they charge, there’s no cost difference on their end - the insert costs just as much as 4 new panels.

Of course, with the S200 base setup you don’t access to the advanced cleaning options through the MyDolphin App but that’s not as important to everyone.

I went with option #2, and I like it. The only problem is that the fine pleated filter is so fine that it fills with the finest of dust on every run. Even if the pool looks perfect, I can run it and wash mud out of filter when done.

Same here. Brown mud every time. It the dusty Tucson air. I have pictures in my S300i thread (in my signature) showing the brown stuff dried out in a coffee filter. It has the consistency of baby talcum powder. I looked at a smear under my kid’s toy microscope and it looked like tiny dust particles.

(I miss my lab days when I had access to a $50,000 industrial Olympus scope with magnification down to the optical light limit, about 2-5 micrometers....but I digress)

High class problem to have, though! ;) Getting dirt out of the pool that you did not even know you had!

Only at TFP would people be putting pool samples under a microscope! God, I love this group.....

Puttin' in work!

(excuse the unsightly fence and weeds, we're still doing updates to the house that the previous owners either neglected or didn't care about)

New liner has been installed for three weeks, and water is looking good. Still amazed at all the shades of color and iridescence.

Of course, I can't leave out my supervisor.
