O/B Pool Henderson Nevada..

Okay here goes a new thing I am trying for the plaster finishes. I have a couple of links to pages that talk about how to get a good finish with your plaster. Let me know what you think after you read through it. Is it too much? Hard or easy to understand? Please don't worry about hurting my feelings. You are the first one to get this set of links so..........I need to know your thoughts:

How to set up to have the best plaster job: A Plastering 'Watch List' | Professional Watershaping | Watershapes

Brief snap shots of different start ups: Pool School - Start-up New Plaster

Full run down on the best BUT hardest start up: A Bicarb Start-up guide for TFP members

Next best start up BUT it leaves out to NOT put water in the pool right away. Wait at least 6 hours after plaster is put in before putting water in! The back of the card is what you want: Start-up Cards - National Plasterers Council

Lets see how this goes!

I liked this part. Clear concise and informative. I do think that you could go deeper into the finishes and how the startup goes.

When you say "go deeper into the finishes" do you mean the kinds of finishes?

To me being a neophyte I would like to know the results of each surface and what to look out for and what to do. I’m a details kinda guy. So what works for me might be too in-depth for others.

Time for a stupid question; Can you add glass beads to a quartz finish? If so then what size of beads would you recommend? 1-2MM or 2-4mm in size? Does an additive need to be added to the quartz to keep the beads embedded? What am I not understanding?

You can add the beads to anything. That's all quartz is is just quartz fragments embedded in plaster.

Since glass is so smooth it does make it difficult for the plaster to grip the beads so I'd highly recommend using a modifier. If you are using an NPT finish they have their own additive called Azteca.

So with a MiniPebble finish, how long does one have to wait to swim? I have read so many different time frames that people are saying. What are the recommend times or what have you done... I will have about 2 weeks once the finish is done before my 50th birthday pool party that the wife has planned. It's a surprise party that I'm not supposed to know about. So I'm asking about using the pool so I can get that info to her so in case she has to move the dates....
