Long story short... pump has been down since FR, waiting on home warranty vendor to come out and inspect / hopefully replace the entire pump and motor assembly. With limited circulation, is there anything I can do to keep the pool from going green or completely off the rails waiting? They won't be out until Friday, so it will have been down a week by then. I was just in the middle of shocking it when this happened..

There's never a good time for a pump to go out. Good thing we have a bit of cold upon us or it could really be worse. I would continue to add some regular bleach each day and sweep/brush it around and that should help. Since you will be dosing manually, probably dose the FC a bit higher as if you had a non-SWG pool and that should help.

My pump was down for a week when I opened, and I just put a sump pump with a 15 foot hose on it, and sat it in a milk crate on the steps and let it run. I checked FC levels and added bleach with hose in my hand to circulate it good.

Welcome cjm,
Adding Chlorine bleach manually and brushing or dropping in a small pump (rent or buy) to circulate is all I can offer. Probably 1/2 -2/3 gallon of liquid chlorine once a day should keep the FC level up in that size pool this time of year.

Not sure what you mean by "in the middle of shocking". Please explain. Do you have a set of recent test measurements? I don't see a test kit in your signature so am holding my breath.......

I had the same problem a couple years back and went without a pump for about a week and a half...maybe even closer to two weeks. We continued to check the chlorine level, brushed the sides daily, and added chlorine as needed. We managed to keep the pool clear during the whole episode.

Thanks for all the advice.... shocking as in slamming.... was about day 3 into slam when pump went out. FC was 20 yesterday so I will keep adjusting and keep high until pump fixed.
