We have concrete! Going to water it asap as it's been such a hot day. It's messy but not nearly as bad as I was expecting.

It is a bit! It looks so deep at the deep end. Already watered once. They advise 10 mins but it took over 20 mins for the concrete to feel cool under foot. I'm just really nervous about it been applied on such a hot day. I guess living in Qld it's not the first pool to be shot on a hot day. Would it be worth watering again tonight before bed?

hehe I know you know most of this already but had to give you the list just to make sure! I know you are getting a test kit so all is good there. Maybe call them to make sure the CYA regent stuff is fixed.

Thanks Kim! It makes it very real having my own set of links! Will print them out and study them in detail.

I think I will water once more before bed. It's already looking quite dry after my last water. It's still 30*C and 80% humidity at 9pm. Speaking of time, what time is it where you are Kim?

It is! We're really happy with it so far! Now to sit back, water and wait for the concrete to cure.... hopefully slowly. Are you any closer in deciding on colour? Have a list of questions ready for Friday. You especially want to know what's included and what isn't. Electrical, overflow plus connection, dig and dump fees (it might be fixed, but if not you'll need to know). I think with fibreglass I read it's important to pencil compact the surrounding soil, so maybe ask about that too. I'm excited for you. Once you get the ball rolling, it will feel like progress.

It is not the first time I have met with the PB... so a lot of my questions are covered. Just fine tuning at this stage and signing forms to start council approval process.

Dump fees are around $90 / Ton and approx 20T have to be removed...

Just waiting on the total crane fee but crane access is fairly clear as there are no power lines on my side of the street - they just require a long enough boom to reach the very end of my yard.

My mate who is a plumber is sorting out my waste line and all equipment etc is pretty much locked in at this stage.

Extra paving, landscaping and pool fence quotes are still to come...:eek:

I'll definitely ask about pencil compaction of the soil on Friday...!
 
When you posted the question about what time it was here in FL it was 5:53 a.m. I was/an getting ready to start the day of *teaching* Kindergarten kids on Valentines day :roll: NO real teaching will be happening LOL Well I guess reading and matching as they pass out their cards and decorate their heart cookies!

It's going well thanks! I'm finding it strangely relaxing. Definitely great bonding time! I did end up watering a second time late at night the day it was shot. Glad I did since it was still so hot and didn't really cool down overnight. Yesterday I managed 3 watering sessions. This morning gave it a good water before work and this afternoon Mother Nature did the work for me. We had a huge storm with lots of rain! Managing to keep on top of the heat and it hasn't felt particularly warm underfoot since the night it was shot.

Do you think I should drain the water accumulating at the bottom? It does eventually reduce, but after tonight there is a fair bit in there.

My weekend job is to redo the temp fencing. Now that the major work is complete we can block off around the pool and have access to our path that leads to the front yard. More fencing was dropped off on Thursday but they didn't install. I let them know I was concerned about my dogs escaping, falling into the pool or being a bit funny with strangers in their area when I wasn't there. As much as I would have loved for the dogs to have access to the front yard again, if waiting a couple of more days meant that they stay safe, then so be it. It's very light so I think I'll manage fine. Will send my ss photos to check all is ok. They'll be happy dogs tomorrow all going well!
 
Kitchen window view of the pool during the storm this afternoon. It got a lovely deep water. Really happy we went with this location, despite it being smaller and tighter than we would have liked, we will have such a good direct view of the pool from our kitchen, dining and family areas of the house.
