Picture of IC40 circuit board

For those of us who just need to know ??

Attached is a photo of a IC40 circuit board after removing most of the black epoxy circuit board potting.

Appears to have had a circuit board overload resulting in a hole burnt in the board.

This is called "Beyond economical repair".

There is no Salt vs. Ozone... consideration to be made...

Salt works and Ozone simply does not.

So, since you are in the design phase of your pool, where did you get the BER IC40?

I suspect there are a lot of us here at TFP, who would love to see what the inside of a Pentair salt cell looks like.

I’m interested.

Ozone is an oxidizer but only a weak sanitizer in pool water as it cannot create enough of a residual concentration to be effective. If ozone is used in a large volume contact tank where the water can be concentrated with ozone, then the kill times can be effective. But that’s not how these units are implemented in pools ...

A little solder and some electronics spray and that circuit board will be as good as new.

There is a trace in the middle of the board thickness which had a melt down. the heat damaged a 101 inductor, a capacitor, and left a hole which may have mounted one or more components.

This board if fine for some components as a donor.
