I'm not aware of a way to measure below 7.0 but you can use the base demand drops and the treatment tables in the guidebook to determine the chems needed to bring it back up. It's advisable to treat with with 1/2 or 3/4 of what you need and then re-measure and re-treat. The treatment tables are approximate by nature because of variation in pool water.

Are you using trichlor?

What's your cya?

Typically an 80 TA will keep the ph up unless you're using trichlor and/or have a really high cya.

The rule I find helpful is if your ph goes to low, your TA is too low. If your ph goes too high, your TA is too high.

If you adjust your TA based on that rule, you will find that your pH will stay just right.

Also, you have a cover, which will reduce carbon dioxide off gassing. CO2 off gassing raises ph.

Do you find that your ph tends to drop consistently?
