Hi,

I've read most of the pool school section and have been browsing the forum for several days. Great stuff and lots of valuable info.

My new pool was filled earlier this month and is crystal clear but I am fighting a battle with the PH. It always wants to drift high, >8.0. My pool builder says this is normal and I will probably have to keep adding muriatic acid for several months.

I'm also working to get CYA up, currently at 50 after adding 1 gallon of liquid conditioner, was near 0 earlier this week. I came home on a sunny day this week and found my FC level at 0.5, but thanks to this forum, I knew to order a decent kit and what to check!

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for all the valuable info!

Welcome to TFP!

The pH rise is normal and it will be for a while at least. Depending on your makeup TA, you may fight it to some degree from now on. But no worries about that now, just watch the pH and and control it with acid.

The liquid Cya is fine if you already have it, but powder is far cheaper for future reference. Are you running the SWG right now? Let us know, but if you can also post a full set of results we can offer more help.

We just had our pool resurfaced with pebblesheen a month ago, and have gone through 6 gallons of acid to keep the pH in range. Our PB forewarned us, so we made sure to have plenty on hand.

Yes I am running the SWG, set at 10%. Pump runs 8 hours per day. Here is the full set of latest results:

PH - 7.5
CYA - 60
FC - 11.0
CC - 0.5
TA - 40

Pool is absolutely clear thanks to this forum I can see the phillips screw heads on the main drains on the deep (5 ft) end. Hope it stays that way! Not sure if I need to reduce pump run time to lower FC or just don't worry about it?

You can lower your pump run time during this time of year with your FC being that high. What is your water temp? I am surprised your SWG is still working as I am guessing your water temp is lower than 60.

Now if you still have leaves falling in your pool so want to run your pump do so. I would turn the SWG down even more (can you?).
