I use a mesh cover and a homemade version of this: http://www.pooltreesystem.com/above%20ground%20pool.htm It helps prevent so many leaves on top of the cover. I have 2 large maple trees that shade my pool and many other trees around it.

Seems like what you could do is install a standard cover and then add a leaf mesh cover on top of the standard cover.

In the spring, you pull back the mesh with the majority of the leaves and other debris, use a yard blower for the fines, and then remove the pool cover proper.
