    Leak in copper suction line

To close the loop: I had skimmer and suction line replaced, the old copper pipe was virtually disintegrated. Not immediately concerning myself with the return lines at present. (Time will tell soon enough on that.) Filled pool back up and left it sit with skimmer full of water for 48 hrs and...

    Leak in copper suction line

Ok I think I understand more fully. The one pool company who I think I feel more comfortable with is going to arrange for the pressure test and we'll see what they tell me. Is there any data/test results in particular I should make certain we receive from this test? Thanks again! Hope this...

    Leak in copper suction line

Ok… that sounds grim and expensive. Not sure exactly what you’re saying I should do. To clarify, I and the two pool companies who’ve come out both noticed pressure drop (and increased bubbles from return jets) when covering the inlet to the skimmer by hand or by attaching vacuum. In reality I...

    Leak in copper suction line

Hi everyone I need some advice. Seems pretty clear the line is leaking badly. Haven’t done a pressure test yet but covering the inlet in skimmer with my hand and/or connecting cleaner/robot causes immediate and significant pressure loss and theirs lots of air bubbles coming back into the pool...

Replacing 3/4hp WhisperFlo, been quoted Superflo VST 1.5hp

ok awesome. Yes The BArracuda is suction-side but it too has met with its own demise and I am shopping for a new vacuum. I was about to start a new thread post for that actually. I don't use pucks much but that is good to know. Tahnks

Replacing 3/4hp WhisperFlo, been quoted Superflo VST 1.5hp

My Pool is 25-30,000 gal. I've had the Whisperflo for a decade (it don't whisper no mo, that's for sho) The municipality requires a variable speed pump nowadays but do I really need a 1.5hp pump? Is there a smaller option that will be variable and quiet? Thanks! Jim

Southern California in-ground pool... to close or not to close and how?

Hi Everyone, Ahh alas Summer weather is coming to an end, even here in sunny Los Angeles. I've been away for a couple of weeks twice this summer and as an experiment both times I simply adjusted chems (per pool math) and brought CL to SLAM level. Turned off pump and simply covered the pool...

    Must have a clog...

Hey James, just saw this... sure enough when I stuck my fingers in there (breaker off) the impeller was stuck alright. I was able to get some leaves and gunk out and free the thing up so I could turn it with my fingers. After I get a new brass bolt/thing to tighten the collar I hope to be...

Thanks James, I've not yet heard of a 'skimmer plate'... I just googled it and only found this black thing with a big hole in the middle, not sure by looking at it how it works. When you have a moment could you please show me what I should get? Back to my effort to resolve the problem: I've...

    Must have a clog...

Thanks Kim. I have to clean my grids and put the filter back together before I can give you the current situation but I'm pretty sure the returns were working fine (I saw some bubbles coming up from them when I'd last turned the pump back on. I will certainly try checking the impeller (with...

    Must have a clog...

Happy New Year Everyone. Was vacuuming out leaves (had a bunch) from the bottom of the pool, happens every autumn so the procedure I follow is simple, vacuum until the pump basket gets full, power down, empty and resume. Eventually I get it all out and all is well. This time though when I saw...

Do I need to SLAM again?

Hey folks, I did perform OCLT that night and lost just shy of 1 FC and a few days later still algae-free. Balanced chems using PM and yesterday added CYA also according to PM and have CYA at about 40 as of now I won't add more for a few more days to see if it rises further. FC 4 CC 0 pH...

Thanks Yippee will do the loss test first. I just read read about your fountain, so brilliant. I might like to try that. Don't ever need to bring down my water temp but it might help me with my TA and it just looks so cool. Best Jim
