Zodiac T5 Duo questions

Hi all
My pool floor is covered with dust and silt every morning; worse after rains and winds. A zodiac electric vac has been useless.

Normally I use a Polaris 280 and that typically works ok for the average day. Particularly heavy dust-falls needs a manual vacuum. Just a normal vac hose on a cheap brush hooked up to a dedicated 40mm line. Works fine whether all the skimmers and main drain are on or not. It's just a chunk of time that I begrudge!

I've just bought a Zodiac T5 Duo to automate (somewhat) manual vacuuming. I've found it challenging to get to work... It's hooked up to the same dedicated line as the manual vacuum. Unlike the manual vacuum, to get the T5 Duo work I've had to shut off both skimmers (63mm) and the main drain (63mm). Thus then creates a problem in that the pump pre-filter pretty much empties after a few minutes. opening up the main drain a little helps but not much as more than a few degrees stops the T5Duo dead. Shutting down some of the returns (each 50mm) helps balance the pump.

Is this juggling a usual thing for suction side vacuums? Should I be struggling with the T5 when there's no problem with a manual vac?

thanks in advance

I had a "the pool cleaner" "poolvergnuegen" and it needed a certain suction rate to work.. I had to close the skimmer about 50% to get good suction on mine.. It differs with each cleaner... Mine ran and did its job for 7 years, I did have to replace a gear when I sucked up som4eething that stripped it..

I have since gone to robots and they work 1000% better, I wish I would have gone to them years ago... it cleans like crazzy... This is the one I went with as it is the only one with upgraded suction motors.. Maytronics Active 60 / M 600

Seems it is a different name for you.. :) The all-new model Zenit 60 pool cleaner, distributed exclusively by SCP Europe | Eurospapoolnews.com
