I was shopping for new hoses for my MX8, and I saw lots of posts for weights. Any experience with these? I'm not as much interested in the claims that they improve robot navigation (though that would be nice), as I am with having the hose not floating on the surface, where it tends to block the skimmer from working like it should (lots of dead bugs and debris on top/around the floating hoses).

Hi. I actually put two of the OEM weights on the hose adjacent to my MX-8 Elite. It stopped it from getting stuck in corners of the stairs. Dont bother with the knock off Amazon hoses. They're super cheap but they show up coiled, which requires you to put them on a pool pole and lay out in the sun to straighten. They barely lasted a year for me before the couplings would not seal on each other.
The OEM hoses are available for 20 each, or 12 for 160 and they all lasted me 5-6 years in the Houston sun before started to break apart.
