The left tread on my MX 6 elite NEVER goes in reverse, only goes forward. Are both treads supposed to periodically go in reverse, or is that only on the MX 8? When I look at replacement parts for the MX 6, I don’t see a side B directional control?

Yes that's what my MX6 does as well. That way it's always turning right and twisting the twist-lock hose sections together rather than apart.
