Yellow stains on pebble sheen pool walls

I have an 8 year old pebble sheen finished pool that has gotten stained. Yellow stains that do not brush off not even a bit. Odd that is mainly on the walls and floor not on the steps (or at least not as dark). i tried rubbing a vitamin C tablet on them but that didn't do anything. however if i let them sit there a bit say 10 minutes, the stain appears to go away for about a 4-5 " diameter. Pool floor is now blotchy. So real question is how do i remove this stain that has taken over 75% of my pool? What caused this staining? Never been there before, just the last few months (appeared at the beginning of the season (Central Florida) right before the water got warm. I use city water with a salt system that i have never needed to add any specialized chemicals. My once beautiful pool is now ugly (just the bottom, the water is and has always been clear).

Thanks for any help - Certainly appreciated

HI ,
Didn't get you message earlier. Thanks for offering to help.
Nothing on any of the sinks but has some blue (copper?) stains (one or two lines) on the toilet bowl. Those have been there for a while. That is curious to me as well as we have a carbon filter and water softener for the main house, but the pool is filled with regular city water (hose bib bypasses the softener).
Seemed to have happened during winter when the pool had abnormally high PH since i was lax in checking. Thought it was the normal yellow algae but wouldn't scrub away.

it's a DE. Had it apart a few months ago (after finding the staining) and there were no signs of any staining.

Pool store recommended Jack's Magenta Stuff to try and if that didn't work then drop the PH to do a non draining muriatic acid wash. Little apprehensive there as all the water goes thru my Raypak heater with no really easy way to make a bypass

Thanks for writing
Marino
