After 20 years of great service, my Zodiac Baracuda was beyond repair. Price wise I decided for the Xtremepower (~$90) versus a new Baracuda (~$250). For the most part, after 3 years, I cannot complain about the device. Had some issues that I fixed (worn out slots for the flap - corrected with zip tie, tee assembly broke gasket - replaced $20.00). The problem that I currently have is that when the pump starts, the vacuum does not start cranking. I have to give a little pull to the hose and it starts without a problem. The flap is free and moves up and down. No obstructions on the hoses. Try different levels of suction (at the skimmer intake - have a regulator) and the intake valve at the pump. No clue what can be causing this. Any suggestions? Thanks

What size pump do you have? Very likely the new cleaner is being "sucked" to the bottom of the pool and needs to be loosened. That's what happens when the sole-plate of the Barracuda gets too worn as well.
