Good Morning Everyone,

I just found this website a few days ago when I wanted to research installing a salt system on my 40,000 gal vinyl lined pool. My pool has been kicking my butt every year once the water temp exceeds 90 degrees or more (which doesnt take long with full sun and absolutely no shade). With help from this website I have ordered a SWG (circupool RJ60 plus which is one of the biggest I could find), Got a good fountain to help cool the water in summer, and have a whole new plan to keep the pool balanced and clear all season long (hopefully). My cover tore and dropped a million leaves in the pool so im working on getting them all out and getting the water balanced before I install the system. Im sure ill have some questions/concerns during install/startup but I really appreciate all the info here.

Sounds like you have a good plan on pool care this year. Have you got one of the TFP-approved test kits yet???

Thank you! I do not have a TFP approved test kit yet, I have been using strips from Leslies. But I will search the forum and find the appropriate test kit for sure! I wish I would have seen your fountain build before I ordered from Amazon, I have a spare Polaris fitting and some extra PVC laying around! I may still build one anyway just for fun!

We put as much faith in test strips as we do....um.... ? whatever.. we don't! They are so limited and inaccurate.

TFTestkits.net <---link to supplier who sells both kits. You can find them on Amazon too, but TFTestkits ships out of NC so it should be pretty fast to you. Its not a cheap kit, but it will *seriously* save you money in the long run. And you can buy replacement reagents there too. I like the TF-100 best, its the best buy, but others buy the K-2006 for a skosh less money. They just have to buy refills sooner. The most important aspect is having the FAS-DPD chlorine test. It will test FC up to FIFTY ppm, unlike cheap kits which only go to five :thumbdown:
