Winterizing / pool cover

Hello! Thank you for your site! We have easily maintained a clear above ground pool for several years using your methods! This is the first year we are leaving up our pool for the winter and followed all your winterizing instructions. Our problem is the pool cover. We bought the pillows and have the cover but it does not rest on the water. When we drain the pool to 6 inches below the inlet, the water level is about 2 feet from the top. Any ideas on how to make this better? I have tried to make a "mountain" and also have distributed the pillows out evenly which just makes small "pools" all over where water will collect. My wife thinks it looks horrible. Any ideas or helpful tips?

You can either get a larger diameter cover or plug the inlet/outlets & raise the water level in the pool.
If the cover is not supported underneath by the water in the pool it will either rip & fall in when precipitation builds up on it or it will pull on the top rails damaging them or possibly both.

+2. The original pool school article is referencing blowing out plumbing lines. You can plug and physically remove your lines to empty them.

Some intex style pools have low ports which would leave the pool half empty as you've found. GREAT job following directions, but just this once, ignore them. (y)
