Winter South Alabama Monster Green Pool Recovery

Sorry to see you are having a tough time. Can I ask you where do you get this affordable CalHypo?
First, a thank you to both all who 'helped' and especially PoolStored and New Dude!

As for the Cal Hypo (no offence intended) I get that from a person that I have bought from for the last 25 years. But I see your from So Cal...so not gonna work for you, but if u were near here I'd tell you how to get in touch with him (not on this forum of course). But he ran a Pool Store & Built Pools for decades here in South West Alabama, until about 4 years ago and he now works from his home. But he still sells the same supplies to me and all his other customers.
As for the Tough Time, I guess I should have updated this thread to say what happened. But the truth is I felt like I'd worn out my welcome over asking about about why not to use Cal Hypo. But the short of the Monster Green Pool Story is that the "tough time" was really all of my own making, there was no Monster - LOL!! It just me dreading the Job of getting the Pool Back in Shape, which turned out to be pretty easy!

So I did as NewDude kindly advised which was to get some cheap Alabama water in it and get it filtering as soon as possible. So I added some Chlorine in as I started to fill the Pool Up. That was important part of course, as pointed out by both Pool Stored & NewDude (maybe others) which was to Get the Pool to Filter Level so it can start working! Noting I started filling it up the pool the PH was at 7.2! Surprisingly, 48 hours later, 75% of the Algae was gone.
But it needed more Chlorine so I added 2 Gallons of Liquid before it got to the Skimmer. Then as it reached Skimmer level it needed, more so I stumbled over to get another 2 Gallons of Liquid (maybe -my memory's not perfect) after it just got to skimmer level. Once it was filtering I let it run about 4 days straight and it was literally...about ready to swim. The PH has been fine all the way and I have the CYA up to 50 and hardness is 350 per last test.

If the water wasn't so cool just now, it'd be ready to go.

The lesson learned was="Just Do It" as that Big Shoe company says!

Thanks everyone!

I don't think you followed the SLAM process, and based on that picture, I don't think you are done with the SLAM. It should look like on of these pools. Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?

Print this out and follow the instructions. Keep them with you, it helps. Get your slam on...Link-->SLAM Process

Don't think you need to SLAM...then do this test...Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
You fail, you SLAM.
