I have an AG pool with a wide mouth skimmer. It's set up with a winter plate and stainless screws that attach into the stainless recessed nuts in the back of the skimmer. Horrible design, as the nuts are pressed in and spin in place, preventing the screws from holding tight enough to seal the gasket. I glued blind nuts into the skimmer trim and now the screws hold. However, I can't get the gasket to seal 100%. For 2 years it eventually leaks out to just below the skimmer. I tried replacing the heavy rubber gasket with orange rainbow rubber but still no luck. I was considering using o-ring material around the edge of the plate to try to seal it. I'm open to any suggestions. I need the water level raised so the self draining cover can work. Thanks.
