I've seen pool stores list inground pool winter covers for about $150 Cdn but a heavy duty tarp from the hardware stores with the same weave is about half the price. Has anyone used just a standard tarp? They both say UV protection.
With covers the consensus is buy the cheapest you can as they should be considered disposable Even the higher priced ones don't last much more than a couple of years.
If you found one that completely covers your pool go for it! I will say that i had a really cheap blue tarp that i used as a cover to shade my little pool during the heat of the summer & it shed many blue “fibers” everywhere. As far as i can tell my Dedicated pool Cover for my big pool did not do this. I would just make sure they are of comparable quality (mil & weave). For a 33’ round pool i have no choice but to buy a pool version
