Will my pool blow out or can it be saved?

Hello,

I noticed this afternoon that a section about 4 feet wide on my 15 x 30 pool has shifted about 4 inches out from the bottom. Just one section though and my deck appears to be holding the vertical post of the pool from falling. Attached is a picture from the underside of the deck and labeled the points of concern by number. Also a picture from the top side, I circled the post that shifted.


Label 1. There is now a mound of rocks from where this slid and pushed the rocks.
Label 2. This support post moved straight out vertically, I suppose the deck stopped the top from moving out further.
Label 3. In his area along the base, the rocks are also moved and kind of looks similar to a line that moles make in a yard.

I don't see any major divots in the pool liner BTW.

I am draining the pool now but does anyone know if this pool be saved? The pool is about 15 years old.

Please let me know if anyone has experienced this or can give me some advice. I can also provide more pics if that helps.

Adding to this: I went under the deck and moved some of the rocks around the base and in some spots, the bottom edge of the wall has come out of the bottom track for about 10 inches.

If the wall is out of the track, it may not take much water movement to force the liner under that area.

Thank you for replying, after I posted this and doing more looking around I am coming to the realization that my pool is probably Donzo. I have it drained to about a foot left and can feel open space under the liner all along the wall section that moved. I can also move around the support post in question with no problem, but the other posts I can't move so I suppose that this is a good test to determine if support posts still have the bottom straps attached and in good order.

I’m guessing something has broken under ground.
It doesn’t look creased so that’s good news!
It will require a full drain to repair so you’ll need to replace the liner at minimum. That doesn’t mean the pool itself can’t be repaired.

It looks from above (at least in this picture) that the one upright circled in red has moved in towards the pool.

After you get the water drained you’ll need to investigate behind the liner.
If the wall is rusted it may not be salvageable. If its just the straps/hardware you may be able to get replacement parts.

Ps - hook up all the hoses you have to drain as quickly as you can and get the pressure off. You can use a pool vac hose or a regular hose to siphon water from the pool.
Note the wind forecast in your area- you may need to brace the walls temporarily once it’s empty.

I had a similiar problem with my 30 old 18x33 above ground pool. It was same problem as yours with the deck supporting that section of the pool. Turned out that the metal cross straps on the bottom that connect the opposing side supports had rusted out. The pool was a goner and after 30 years I felt that I got my monies worth and ordered a new one.

Thank you everyone for the replies! I do have "other structures" insurance with my Homeowners policy and wondering if the pool can be covered. Has anyone been able to file a claim and be reimbursed and if so do you have any tips on what to say?

Doubtful about the insurance- unless a tree fell on it or something like that.
