Wifes skin gets really dry.

Yeah I get that. I'm assuming I'd need some type of salt test to monitor its levels to know when to add more?
If its just for feel you just add the amount (1-2k ppm) & let it ride until the next purge, drain, refill.
If you intend to use a swcg that requires a specific amount you need the taylor k1766.
I have a saltron mini & add 2400ppm & don’t need to add more until I drain/refill generally but of the cell starts saying you’re low you don’t want to just blindly add - you want to know where you actually stand so you can troubleshoot the unit.

Another thought About the dry skin thing…
What temp are you running? The hotter the water and the longer you sit in it the hot water the more likely dry itchy skin happens.
Also you want to be sure the fc never falls below minimum for your cya.
Thats a sure fire way to get some hot tub rash & other fun afflictions.

About 103 since it's cold out.

For me and my house, I’d add borate to 50. I use the straight boric acid from Duda. 14 oz in 355 gallons. Try that first. And 103 is our upper limit. It’s gotta be in the 20’s before we get that high. 90% of the time we are at 102. At 103 we sweat so much our hair gets wet. That obviously means the pores in our skin is really dilated. Try 102.

I’m not really qualified to be guru, but I do have opinions. LOL

Especially with the tub being a new thing it can take some time to get used to the hotter temps. I keep mine at 104/105 when its cold out at night but it took some “warming up to” lol 😂 my husband on the other hand wants it 1 million degrees!
Get the cya into the 30/40 range and see if it feels less harsh - just keep with the
FC/CYA Levels though.

My wife said she can't use the tub as much as we have been because her skin is getting so dry and breaking out. Is there anything I can do to help with that? I thought I read salt but I couldn't figure out the specifics.

Currently using the Dichlor chlorine method.

Is DiChlor and Liquid Chlorine all that you are adding?

Are there any other chemicals that you are adding?

What sort of Liquid Chlorine are you using (chlorinating liquid, what kind of bleach if you are using bleach)

I use Muric acid to bring the TA and PH down.
I did add some metal stain stuff at refill
I use pool chlorine 12.5%

OK, nothing crazy. Sometimes people are using Oxygen Shock, or bleach with additives, or other such stuff. You seem to be just fine.

Some people are more sensitive to chlorine than others, and it does have a drying effect on skin.

A higher CYA (40 ppm or so, with the appropriate FC level) can be helpful. So can shorter soaks and lower temps.

Sometimes it is the simple solution that works best. If all your chemicals are in balance, it probably just the hot water drying out the skin in the same way a regular hot shower is not good for the skin.

I used to have a problem with dry skin with regular hot tub use. Now I moisturize after getting out of the hot tub. Problem solved!

Just ensure that you don't do that in reverse. You don't want all that Crud in your hot tub!

Have you purged the biofilms from your tub using…
