Wife added cya with filter on recirculate

As title says, I'm away working so she had to open the pool. I told her to add the cya in skimmer but she said it came out of the return line. So I got her to check the valve and she had it on the wrong setting.

Now my question is what happens to the cya level? Should I get her to add more in or will it still be effective?

Vacuum it up and let it dissolve in the filter. Otherwise you risk white freckles on the pool floor because it is, after all, acid.
