Wierd opening

Kind of a wiered opening this year.

Taking cover off, was green, and of course a lot of Crud fell off the cover into the pool. I struggle getting it off more ever year :-(

So tested my water, got ph 7, fc 0, cya zero (lost alot of water and had to add water most of yesterday.

got the sock hanging and got my cya just about to 30 , raised fc to 7.2 with borax and started the slam.

got fc up to 13, funny is that cc showed zero.

during the day i added a few gallons during the day, but it wasnt dropping off as much as it normally does. Kept it at slam level

So i'm just about pooped out from cleaning the de filter, running back and forth, but seeing plenty of improvement, just a wierd opening numbers wise..

Getting there. can almost see the bottom.

One thing i really struggle with is the cya test. one minute i think its thirty, next 50, then 40 LOL. wish there was an easier way on that one.

Almost there OTCL test tonight. for as bad as it was when i opened, clearing up quicker than i thought, though i did ALOT of work Tuesday and Wednesday..

So in summary, took cover off Sunday to green lagoon, filled with water most of the day.
Monday put in CYA sock and added chlorine to shock level
Tuesday slammed all day, vacuumend, cleaned out filter multiple times.
Wednesday slammed about hourly, vacuumed in evening.
Thursday slamming but FC requirements diminishing, hoping to pass OTCL Friday morning or Saturday morning.

Well, there may be an easier way to do the CYA test- Stop trying so hard to look.
Make sure the sun is at your back, then fill the tube to the 100 line. Glance at it, do you see it? Then fill it to the 90 line. Glance at it, see it? And so on.
I found that filling to the lines in order (100, 90, 80, 70, so on) and looking away then looking at it (but not staring hard!) gave me the most repeatable results.
If you stare long enough you *will* see it, or something you swear is it. Don't make it so hard on yourself.

While i thought this was going to be my hardest open, thanks to TFP I gotta say I rocked it, following everything to a T.
