Why do we need Skimmer socks if we have filter?

Hairnets are so cheap that you don't actually clean them - Just take them out of the basket and straight to the bin.

I actually find removing and replacing a hairnet easier than trying to clean/empty a basket without a hairnet as nothing gets caught in the small holes of your skimmer basket.

Bingo.

They can. You might need to make a small hole to put the handle through. Or you could line the basket with a couple of them.

I'm using actual skimmer socks from Amazon, they were cheap, and I reuse them. I just leave them attached, flip the basket over, they hang down and I hose them off and stick them back in. I got them because of the pollen which kind of dissolves and becomes an oil, they seemed to help even though I have DE which should've been getting everything.

They last a couple months before they start to tear and I'll put a new one on. I don't like relatively large things (tree debris) getting through to the filter, because some of it fits through the pump strainer and the skimmer baskets, but is still visibly large particles.
