White mold on cartridge filter or not?

Also had the local pool store test my well water. 7.6pH, 282 TA, 219 CH, 0.9 iron, 0.1 copper, TDS 3400. The person doing the test couldn’t tell me if that 0.9 iron was %, ppm or what, but says anything over 0.8 was high.

I also have a soft water spigot to fill the hot tub. Had it tested too: pH 7.9, 144TA, 4 CH, 0.0 iron or copper. So I think I’ll be using the soft water to add to the pool as well… not just for the iron, but all parameters. Softener uses “Zeolite” media to filter, so this must take out the metals?

Uh…. That’s deep chemistry for the weekend. Would appreciate a layman’s terms commentary from @JoyfulNoise or others.

Looked up my softener and it uses synthetic zeolite. Not sure if that matters, but the 0 iron in the pool store test seems to make it somewhat legit. Maybe I’ll hit another pool store for another data point.

Not endorsing any softener over another, but here is the link to what I have and it’s claims to revive iron. Just marketing literature. Crystal-Right™ Media

In the end, my question is if the zeo treated water would cause issues as top-off water? If no metals and better CH, that’s easier to manage pool water after adding.
