Old K10043 (r0001,2,3)7.5 (r0014,15)100 (r0007,8,9)
K1000>5 (r0600)7.5 (r0014)
TF1007 (r0870 powder)140 (r0007,8,9)

I hate to throw out and waste all the old k1004 vials but they are consistently off from the new TF100 and K1000 kits, and doing both kits every time is getting tedious

Understood but thats a weekly test right bc there is so little powder. Then logically for daily you would recommend the kit with the closest result to FAS which is the new K1000 and chunk the old k1004

OK so if I kept the K1000, what would you salvage from the K1004 kit,

FC keep the r0003, is it the 1 and 2 causing low readings?
PH keep both 14 and 15 bc they correlate with the other kit
TA trash the old 007,8,9 bc those readings are consistantly lower than the new 7,8,9?

Ok Scott. You got me a little conflicted today. I’m usually all for squeezing every last drop out of something. But the cornerstone of TFP is built on reliable testing. If you cannot guarantee a part to be reliable, it has to go.

It’s penny wise and pound foolish to let it bite you in the bottom be it tomorrow or 2 months from now.

Also, thanks. I cannot see anything you post without going full on Doc Brown. It NEVER gets old.

Trash the K1000 and keep the K1004.

View the K-1000 chlorine test as binary. It tells you if you have chlorine in the pool or not. No valid FC number can be inferred from the K-1000. If you need to check your FC number then break out the FAS/DPD test. If you are confident your SWG is working then dark yellow in the K-1000 confirms it. If clear or pale yellow then move right to the FAS/DPD test to figure out what is going on.

Last summer was our first with the pool. I tested pretty much daily for the first couple of months, then developed a 'feel' for the chlorine usage and would just add the amount I had been adding
after testing, which for our pool with the solar cover installed was about 1/2 gallon a day. I tested twice a week for a few weeks, then went to weekly testing. This year upon opening the pool, I tested daily
for about 10 days to make sure it was dialed in, and now test once a week again.
